Anyway, the Nolan brothers don't make bad shows. When I heard Jonathan Nolan was making Fallout I knew it was going to be good. His last two series, Westworld and Person of Interest, are two of my favourite all time TV series. As soon as I saw that Dogmeat was a Belgian Malinois, just like Bear in Person of Interest, I knew we had a winner.
BTW Ella Purnell, who plays Lucy in the show, confirmed my theory that the story is about the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly trying to survive in the Wasteland. I do not merely see, I observe.
Actually, the strategy that Moldaver employed to raid the vault was perfect.
* Her NCR army are likely former raiders who became settlers (tradesmen) and soldiers in the NCR army. They are most likely formed from the remnants of the refugee population of the Sandy Shores township she managed before the town was decimated. She wants to protect them, since they are not just her army, but her colony that'll spread her ideas and ideals.
* Due to her activities as a rebel leader and sponsor & collector of bounties, Moldaver must had some occasional trading with various raider gangs. There were useful for overt missions where she could leverage them but later distance herself from the aftermath of their actions if needed.
* So when she wanted to raid Vault 33, she decided not to risk the lives of her NCR army, but instead to use the raiders as temporary mercenaries (mostly likely tempted them with the promise of the treasures of the uncontaminated vault as rich bounty that they can raid and claim, but only with her help - she's the one with Rose's PipBoy, it granted access to the Vault 33) to do a sudden raid on Vault 33 led by her (a rare occasion since she probably didn't like to risk herself for wanton violence; but she proved her ruthlessness when she let the raiders hurt and kill the innocent vault residents, and her capability as a soldier of action when she mounted and used the anti-aircraft gun when her base was assaulted by BoS).
* Her ploy worked because the vault residents who survived thought that the raid was by raider horde, not a rebel army. If Lucy had not broken vault protocols to sneak out out of the vault to search for her father, then the vault 33 residents would have merely marked this bloodbath as a random sortie done by a raider gang that found/stole a pipboy to access the vault. Notice how the vault 33 residents treated the captured raiders nicely, thinking they could be reformed and assimilated into the vault society. The vault residents never even realised that all their overseers came from vault 31. The vault residents were so accustomed to living and operating in the happy present, that they tended to willfully ignore the sordid lessons from the violent past and the sombre warnings of the future.
IMDB has it now at an 8.5/10 Rating, thru 160k reviews.

I would highly recommend every Fallout gamer and fan to watch this show.
The show starts slow, but it sets the background perfectly for whatever comes next.
The showmakers have outdone themselves, and somehow captured the pathos, ethos and atmosphere of Falloutverse.
Fans of the game series may nitpick on some things, but it has an excellent cast, perfect pacing (the slow moments add the backstories and lore so newbies to the lore don't get confused or lost), exotic realistic environments (the grunge building sets are especially done well, and so is the desert-like Wasteland), quirky characters, the costumes (your jaw will drop when you see the Power Armors up close and in action - it is a drool-worthy treat for the fans of the game), the brutal blood-splattering action, funny scenes, interesting cameos (fans of Archer series, watch out for Episode 6), terrifying monsters, and the tons of easter eggs.
The show does a lot of justice to the game lore and locations, and the attention to detail on the show is frankly astounding. The showmakers even got Fallout creator Todd Howard to agree to give them access to thousands of 3D models of the assets used in the games. so they could be 3D printed and painted to be shown in the show, so Fallout fans are literally combing through each scene to find and tag these easter eggs in the show. Fun times!
It's all incredible Fallout content packed into just 8 episodes (Season 1). This is literally Fallout's essence captured perfectly and rendered as live-action thrilling cinema.
Ignore the naysayers, just go watch it (on Amazon Prime), and give you two thumbs-up too, for this wonderful Fallout show!!
On second viewing I'd get ive a 4/10. The flaws really stand out when you watch it again. Besides lore stuff there is things like
That damn turret and Siggi and Dogmeats 10+ Luck stat
The stupid meat grinder leg device basically not cauterising the wound leaving it to fester
Lucy acting like a sociopath when handling Siggi's head after just having it cut off. She's a history buff not a surgeon, she should be acting deeply disturbed around it and with what she had to do.
Lucy's non-reaction to getting a finger cut off
The fact they sewed a necrotic finger onto Lucy and it just immediately works when it should have given her sever sepsis
Power Armor not having an internal emergency release especially when it seems to have reserve power for the hud. Isn't getting the soldier out of the armor more important then having a hud to tell him they are out of juice? At least have Lucy ask why Max didn't use it and Max admitting he didn't know it was there.
Lucy's pipboy being very selective about when its radiation detector goes off? Like around ghouls or when she's standing beside the crater in Shady Sands why is it not going off like crazy. Craters of bombs that went off 200 years ago are still very radioactive, this one from nearly 20 years ago seems to have none.
Cleaning up Vault 32 in a day. Who did it? Betty? Stephanie? The Little Brain bot?
And I could go on. It's still enjoyable but loses some major points due to the inconsistencies
It is just ok... but teeters on the edge of being awful.
Season 2 and 3 will show us how it really turns out. And playing music from the game and old `50s jingles and shoving Nuka cola bottles at me won't stop me discerning if It happens to be awful.
That said, it wasn't good enough for me to actually watch through
Brutal, funny, dark, cynical, amazing backdrops - if there were 100 episodes we'd be binge watching for the next week.
