Stealing BOS power armor

Anything wrong with just flat out stealing everything you see all the time? each time a vertibird flies over me and plops down 2 fully kited out t60 BOS guys i yoink both their power cores (Free Power Cores) then wait for them to skedadle and then yoink all the power armor parts off the frames since the frames are the only ones you cant really steal that well. (frre arrmmmooorr) am i an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for doing this to the npcs? should i feel any sort of guilt basically dooming 2 poor bos gaurds to die to some random waistland abomination because i robbed them of their precious power armor (i need it more. i need it for... uhhh well i need it duh)

Yeah its hilarious but is there even any downsides? (like i am siding with these guys) im at the cambridge police station and theres a couple of BOS power armor guys. thinking of yoinking their cores and plates too. as long as im not detected theres literally no cons right? its not like 10 hours later im in my playthrough and then the brotherhood starts to crumble togheter because i one time stole all their armor

In terms of game mechanics, there shouldn't be any downsides unless you trigger hostility with the Brotherhood.

I would say whether you should feel guilty depends on what kind of character you're roleplaying.

Until you reach a point where you have 20 or 30 PA's in your collection and you just pass by any of them lying around because you know, you can only actually use one PA at a time.

I don't because I'm a hoarder. I'll shoot them dead still in their power armour so that there's no leftover frame, and then take all the plating to either sell or add to the box full of power armour plating (mostly Brotherhood T-6) back in my personal base.

Also, because I'm practical I'll probably beat up every part of the bodies in melee to break all their plating so that it's easier to carry.
