After a week, Bethesda support got back to me...
annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd they told me to do a clean install of my nvidia drivers, which installed okay, but didn't fix the problem. Actually, I lost another 4 FPS doing so, and I'm sitting at 30 FPS standing still with nothing moving around me. Probably they'll take another week to respond to my response. >:(

Strike 1, Bethesda. At this rate, going through Bethesda's checklist will take months. All they have to do is de-couple the 2D stuff from the frame rate and reverse whatever they did to slow down the game to make lockpicking work (and drop my FPS into the toilet). Then patch the patch, and most of vanilla player's problems will probably be solved.

Tick tock, Bethesda...oh, and BTW, how many of the workers you fired from shuttering 3 Bethesda studios could have been put to work on fixing this patch? How could Microsoft justify forcing this action when their performance exceeded expectations and made $22 billion in profit, which could have kept those studios alive, or at least shifted their workers to help fix problems like this broken patch? You're going to destroy the games industry if you keep this up while letting people like Todd Howard run huge companies like Bethesda into the ground.

They are dealing with people who have much bigger problems than not being able to get past 30 FPS.

Edit: hopefully!

Anyway good on you for actually raising a ticket.

Bethesda `support` is a joke.

Most of those problems were caused by what they did to "fix" vanilla. The High FPS Physics mod fixes all the problems that I have supposedly, but Bethesda refuses to fix what needs to be fixed, or it would have been in the Next Gen Patch and I wouldn't be having problems playing F4 in the first place.

And Bethesda doesn't pay attention to these forums (although their fanbois do), so making a ticket is the only way to fix my vanilla game. I really don't want to mess with mods, for the obvious reasons everyone using mods have stated.

Microsoft shuttered studios.

Maybe try browsing thru the discussion page here. There are tons of posts that help, and chances are its something you overlooked.

Youre going on about how its effected you, but alot of other people arent having any of those problems what so ever, save longer load times.

You said you reinstalled, but before that did you nuke EVERY FO4 folder? Like the one in username/appdata/local? you gotta get that one too.

There was one player that was stuck at low FPS, and he discovered that it was because the game window was stuck in the background, Windows was messing it up. He got that fixed and its fixed his problem.

Do some research and checking for once.

I never said I reinstalled the game. My game worked fine, minus lockpicking, before the patch. That problem is buried deep in the F4 engine, as the High FPS Physics Mod creators describe on their page. Then the Next Gen Patch tanks my game by slowing it down so that the lockpicking works, but I now get 30 FPS where I got 60 FPS before. So, no, it's Bethesda's mistake, and thus their problem. I never had load time issues, even after the patch, so that's not the issue, either. Since F4SE is required for the High FPS Physics Mod, and the updated version is only in beta, I can't install those mods, either. And since I've never used mods, and never want to, this is a Bethesda problem. They broke it, they can fix it, the way it should have been fixed years ago. They've had a solution since they fixed things in F76, so again, this is their problem. And when they fix it, it will probably fix most of vanilla players' problems.

Edit: Microsoft gives orders to Bethesda CEO (Todd Howard) to shutter those studios. Bethesda still is a company, even if it's a subsidiary of Microsoft.

Then everyone would be having that problem, which they arent.

lemme guess, youre trying to run higher than 60fps?

Think for a second. FO4 is a game, using an engine when 60FPS was the standard.

Youre trying to force a game to go beyond those limits, and youre actually complaining when it cant???

I'm running 60FPS, mainly because thats what my monitor is limited to. Even if it wasnt, the game runs at 60. Thats what it was designed for.

If you know what to do(your Strike 1) Then MOD IT. You seem knowledgeable enough to do it. Guarantee you will have support from others looking to go higher than 60fps.

time to downgrade my friend, i'm sorry to say, but this most recent update is kind of dogsh.it in comparison to the last version of the game, it runs a fu.ckload better, still very flawed and buggy, but far better in comparison.

all i can do is recommend something like this, it may not be as simple as a bethesda update, but it's a hell of a lot faster in getting it to work.

What part of "I don't use mods" don't you understand? My monitor doesn't allow above 60 Hz refresh, so 60 FPS is all I'm going to get. Before the patch, I got 60 FPS, smooth as glass, but lockpicking was too fast (breaks picks in 1/2 of a second) - I have a blazingly fast new computer. After the patch, lockpicking worked, but I get 30 FPS, which is unplayably slow (and I can imagine how much slower it would be in downtown Boston). The Next Gen Patch did this, and Bethesda needs to de-couple the 2D stuff from the frame rate, and undo whatever they did to slow down the frame rate. Even the High FPS Physics Mod creators said it's only a few lines of code to fix it, so it should have been easy for Bethesda to figure out, if they had bothered.

I have never used mods since this game first came out, and I have no plans to do so, unless Bethesda gives up and never fixes the game. I have no interest in spending more time fixing the game than actually playing it. The mods are more trouble than they're worth to me.

Dude, READ my post. I said:

Did you ever think of going into your Nvidia control panel, selecting Fallout 4 and forcing it to 60 FPS???

I'm guessing you didnt.

I tried that BEFORE the patch, and every time, within 3 minutes, Fallout 4 would CTD. I've been through this crap already. It CTDs because it's dropping so many frames that the game just gives up.

Did you disable Weapondebris???

You are not going to drop frames and crash if you limit it to 60fps.

Some people would rather spend time ranting and raving about Bethesda than trying to actually solve their problem.

The update changed how things are handled:
#1 With the new update vsync cannot be set to 0 anymore, it has to be on.
#2 Graphics card control panel options take priority over the INI files and game settings.
Come on come on... let's all just try to help each other out here eh?
