The late update might be the result of pressure from the console makers, most likely Microsoft since they now own them. Consoles make their money with titles more than they do by selling hardware. The update will allow the game to continue making money on consoles by being able to run on big TVs with 4k@60Hz.
The rest are bug fixes, and we can only hope for the best but keep expectations in check, and of course some sugar coating in form of free CC content to get the "pill down".
At this point, Bethesda's lack of transparency about the specifics of this update is inexcusable.
we'll get what we get, it's not like we have any control over it.
re: lack of transparency, Todd knows his userbase, he can work up a crowd to a frothy lather of anticipation desire hatred and loathing, eventually just sighing and saying shut up and take my money already... he's many things, but he definitely understands the rampant fanboi mentality.
Starfield would have been a HUGE success had the world not changed and E3 still been relevant in 2022... after two pandemic cancels, then Sony and Nintendo both pulling out, then bigger shops like THQ? If E3 was the E3 of 2016? Starfield would have been the biggest selling Bethesda game, surpassing Skyrim. Because Todd would have been there, on-stage, and doing what Todd does - shill!
as I mentioned, I also dont think of next gen consoles, when I hear next gen game. think of witcher 3 next gen - THAT was a proper release. didnt run smoothly from the get go, but now it just runs like thin water on my rig. the content is, what I mean. its awesome! I doubt, that the fallout 4 "next gen" update is worthy of the name.
Well, Skyrim SE got a Graphics update, but that was all time and resources that probably should have gone to TES6 anyway.
I think, this is true. that they adress issues on PC is just a nice bonus. primarily they aimed on console, tho.
Fallout 4 got lit up after the TV show so they're catering to the influx of buyers.
