PA requires Fusion cores though, you can find these scatterd ver the Commenwealth, or by them from merchants. They are pretty expensive at merchants, but u cant excatly rely on the ones u find in the wild..
As you progress though, you'll come to a point, where u can get a perk that makes Fc's last longer.
The other opons, is to grab a companion, they can be used as mules, some can carry more then others, but robots can carry the most.
At lvl 15 a quest should pop up, when you've completed that quest, you'll be able to build your own robot. The type of robot u can build relys on ya science perks, see said requirements, when u select a robot part.
BTW The quest at lvl 15 only appears if u have the "automation" DLC
The only thing, I hate to play in power armor, is there a way/build to play without it the most of the time or power armor is meta for this game?
You could just make trips to an fro with ya stuff, as long as your outside and not in combat, you can fast travel, u cant fast travel whilst encumbered, till you get that perk in the strength category.
Basically PA turns u into a mini tank(with the right weaponry), and for things like Deathclaws, it enables you to take more of a beating. The PA is upgradable, and that relys on your science and materials.
There is a draw back, the basic PA of any type only requires steel, an a few components to repair, as you upgrade the armour, you start needing more and more junk.
Youll want to get a suit of PA any-way, just for later, get ya scince to Rank 4, an u can add a jetpack to ya PA.. ideal for those hard to reach areas u wanted to check out, but couldn't work out how to get up,,
You wont get that till around level 40 though.
If you want to use mods, I assume there are also mods for that.

Plus there are just so many more... lots are included in some Armor/Clothing packs...
Enjoy.
It completely doable to play without PA. I've never bothered to use it in any of my playthroughs. (outside the one quest that introduces it)

...... I mean, obviously it's a dev console code, but it's the one I always do very first thing :D
You can either: use console commands, download a mod, download a backpack mod for "more immersion" or as others have stated increase your Strength modifier(s). One important thing to note is if you are playing on Survival difficulty your carry weight will be nerfed.
If you use the Creation Club backpack (the Modular Military Backpack creation), yes. Creation Club things do not disable achievements. Other mods will disable achievements, unless you also install one of the mods that specifically enable you to get achievements again when using mods.
