I am having the same issue. I believe this is an issue with the updated F4SE and XDI.dll. The MOD author for F4SE states that all .dll's plugins need to be updated by the companion mods, but I have not seen an update on Nexus yet for Extended Dialogue Interface. If anyone has a work around I would love to get my game back up and running.

Don't run the update on the game. If you're using F4SE, you should have blocked steam from updating the game before the update dropped.

F4SE won't be updated for a while, yet. They're testing to make sure that any existing things are working, but only recommend that modders - not mod USERS - test that out because it might irrevocably break your game otherwise...

Extended dialogue mod hasn't been updated yet.

Then perhaps you should visit the mod's page or discord and see if there's actually anyone doing anything with it.

XDI has been updated on Nexusmods.com (6th of June). However, it has to be downloaded manually from the Files section. The updated version number is 1.4.0 and is still considered beta.

I fixed this problem by adding these lines in Fallout4Custom.ini file in \Documents\My Games\Fallout 4\

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Previously, I did the same thing but only in Fallout4.ini file, which is not correct.
So you must have these lines in both in Fallout4.ini AND Fallout4Custom.ini. But I am playing on 1.10.163, not on the next-gen version.

Wanna post this “fix” in more threads?
That does not solve this issue, but is required for modding this game. The community appreciates the contribution nonetheless.
