The story line in NW is actually a pretty good one for a Dystopian world setting
How far is a player willing to go, is up to the player.
I hit NW at the end of the BoS wiping out the institute. It was an easy choice for me.
"Bring law to the lawless"
Nuka world is about the backstory of nuka-cola with raiders to populate the area.
it'd be pretty boring without any antagonistic faction in nuka world.
also MM and nuka world aren't mutually exclusive. at most you lose preston as a companion if you complete nuka world via the raider path after you've joined the MM. if you do nuka world before joining the MM preston asks you to wipe out the raiders and is fine with being your companion.
-10% visibility in shadows
+25% Damage with silenced weapons
There is literally no other reason.
But Nukaworld. Truly is fun for the whole family....I mean if your family consists of a bunch of weirdos (I was listing all the followers but...it got judgmental).
Obviously the Nuka World DLC is more fleshed out if you decide to become a raider yourself, but that was the point, up until Nuka World you could only become a good settlement builder, not a raider.
You can always start a new playthrough with a raider character to roleplay, and instead become a raider and see more of what Nuka World has to offer.
Damage taken is decreased by 25% (which is significantly better than increasing DR by 25%). The player character also deals 25% more damage with unarmed and melee attacks.
Just doing so destroys the raider gang and all raider gameplay.
The park is fun, the overall sense of humour is OK, but the concept of you becoming overboss of the raider clans is very flimsy.
Also nearly everything in this DLC is unbalanced relative to the base game.
Basically the point is for evil playthroughs. The good guy route is dissatisfying and doesn't make much sense. Even less than the bad guy route.
And the raiders are all excruciating posers.
Edit: and of course there is no reason to go there at all if you don't like it (won't impact the base game or any other DLCs if not, but will if you follow the whole main story line to completion).
