Maybe you've just been a victim of the dreaded RNG Barbara? Ehhhhhhnh. Probably not - then again I just play the game and accept what it throws at me (i.e. I role play - not my place to question the Fallout GODS (devs)
Anyway - warning - my answer is more one that talks to the way one approaches playing FO than the bells, whistles and mechanics of how it works. Sooooo... if you are not easily offended (and my intent is not to offend) then read on - else - abandon ship - now.
Not being a survival mode guy it is probable that my laissez-faire attitude towards rad storms may not be relevant to you @barbara917. If so, don't sweat it; you won't hurt my feelings if you move on without continuing to read otherwise, in my experience, rad storms just aren't all that common and since I don't bother to keep track of 'em IMO not even worth worrying about (they're pretty easy to deal with - well - maybe not in survival mode?). FWIW, to me they're just an annoyance. Easy to hide from and easy enough to run away from without accumulating too much radiation.
However, I have noticed that on the rare, very rare occasion that there will be a rad storm that will - kick - your - a$$ with some pretty severe rad levels if you don't immediately take a couple of doses of radx and maybe even a radaway or two to get rid of what rads one has accumulated while you search for shelter. Not fun at all but they are and can be a bit more annoying than a typical rad storm is, especially if radaway is in short supply.
Anyway, Barb - pretty sure someone will come along with an answer to your question both more relevant and spreadsheety than mine.
That said: Play the game (emphasis on game) and don't sweat what's going on in the depths of its innards.
Here's to ya!
My drive-in gets hammered constantly.
That's my point. Not to be rude to the previous reply but there is a reason people play on Survival Mode. They want the game to be hard. Radstorms are one of the many annoyances of Survival Mode which all added together makes it more difficult. To go two and half weeks in game with no Rad Storms just isn't normal.
It "Could" happen, I guess.
That was one of my 1st thoughts too, Cor. Good on ya.
My Grandmother used to tell me, "Ya hang out in bad places, bad things tend to happen".
Cant bring law to the lawless if I hide
I've been seeing plenty of Rad Storms, so the update definitely didn't break them. only mod I run is Load Accelerator.
So, in my experience, rad storms seem to be astonishingly rare on survival. O_O
Zero mods btw.
