And then searching through all these menus to find out if DLCs will install along with the base game or not. Origin/EA, at least has the option to quickly review all the DLCs that will be installed along the game.
You don't need to install anything separately, because none of the DLCs are standalone products.
Installing Fallout 4 installs all expansions automatically. You have an extra, although from a practical point of view for most people unnecessary, the option to uncheck any and every DLC, because you don't like it, want to save space or test something on vanilla, base F4.
It's just a marketing marketing procedure to have an option like that available- to incentivize people to buy everything and make the process easier.
What gave you the idea there's a second, separate version of the game?
Even if there was, it would be a separate story entry, just like Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition
Are you trolling or joking?
On the right, under the achievements, there's a window with a couple of buttons- click 'Manage my 7 DLC'. You can quickly uncheck anything you don't want to use-install.
It's a shortcut to tab in Properties... -> DLC for Fallout 4 entry in Steam library.
But I see that this is Steams common practice, as the same is with my Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Delux game
I can only write that again- there is no second, separate, GOTY version of the game.
GOTY package is what it is- a bundled package of the game and additional content.
There is no version with incorporated DLCs, like there is for F3 or Oblivion.
Not sure what that screenshot should be saying. You bought GOTY edition in store- and that's how it's named on the list.

Recheck for what? You're linking me GOTY edition of the game, to prove that there is GOTY version of Fallout 4?
I'm not sure you understand what the question was about, and are confusing terms and labels.
I can write one more time since reading with comprehension is a rare sight these days- there is no 'GOTY' version of Fallout 4.
GOTY edition is a product bundle and a simple purchase option. It's still just normal, standard Fallout 4 bundled with all DLC. As you can clearly see.
This topic resurfaces regularly.
People basically don't think at all, and for some unspecified reason assume 'Fallout 4 GOTY' is a distinct thing existing alongside normal Fallout 4, and having 'issues' like 'ugh, I bought GOTY and in library it just says Fallout 4' or 'I bought GOTY but in store, I can still buy stuff, was I cheated?!'.
Whether it's just cluelessness or plain old stupidity- I'll let you decide.
