High Charisma Merchant/Builder
Silver Shroud with Exploding Tommy Gun
High Stealth Commando
Power Armor Brute (Melee/Shotgun/Heavy Weapon)
I just rotate plays as desired.
But my last build was different. I tried a purely high-intelligent man, with a high Charisma. very little in endurance or anything else.
Then i started Survival (with a sleeping bed mod, so i can make a sleeping bed once I found the right parts) and went the opposite way of Sanctuary into the wasteland. It wasn't easy. I had to sneak everywhere, hide from everything. Keep my head on a swivel. I have no compass hud.
One dog is dangerous. 3 dogs are extremely dangerous. I had to run away several times after killing one and emptying my pistol doing it! then some Raiders saw me, ran away from them and stil got injured a bit!
Mosquitoes! Oh mosquitoes! , they not only sit on carcasses, but sides of trees which caught me out at first. I don't use VATs so if one of those things target you and you don't have jet, you're done for. You have to be very lucky or accurate to shoot them and you can't run away.
Anyway, I did much hiding and sneaking. talked things peacefully with some guys who were about to have a shoot out.
Found some Power armor completely where I didn't expect to and things started to get easier.
i'm level 43 now. I enjoyed the struggle to survive at the beginning. It's the best, most realistic part, and it makes it all worthwhile when you can finally make Raiders run away instead of you!
S 9 P 7 E 1 C 1 I 3 A 5 L 2
This build is designed to be combat flexible the high strength is for the means of being able to carry what is basically an armory on your back while taking advantage of high perception for vats accuracy with said weapons.
You will want to pick up strength perception and agility bobbleheads and dump your special book into agility.
Reccomended perks strong back, gun nut, gun damage perks and scrounger.
The diplomat build
S 2 P 4 E 1 C 10 I 8 A 2 L 1
This build is for people who actually want to engage in settlement building.
While not very strong in combat there is pretty much nothing outside the crafting ability’s of this build.
Buying what you need isn’t much of an issue either.
Recommended perks local leader inspirational as well as any pacify perks.
The rogue
S 2 P 9 E 3 C 1 I 4 A 7 L 1
This sneaky little stealth sniper can take down just about any enemy completely undetected with or without vats.
Recommended perks rifleman, sniper, gun nut and ninja
The vigilante
S 9 P 1 E 1 C 4 I 3 A 9 L 1
This is more of a gimmick build.
This build revolves all your skill around how well you use your pistol.
And should an enemy come at you with their gun you can just shoot it right out of their hands and follow up with an unarmed beating.
Recommended perks gunslinger, lone wanderer, attack dog, iron fist and blitz.
(Note the weapon shooting strategy will not work until you have rank 4 of gunslinger)
Mad scientist
S 2 P 8 E 4 C 1 I 10 A 2 L 1
This build puts your evil genius to the test laser weapons, power armor, performance enhancing drugs fight smarter not harder.
Recommended perks science, gun nut, chemist and chem resistant.
(Note if you have the automatron dlc this build gets even stronger as robot companions can be more deadly than vanilla companions)
Spoiled boy/girl
S 2 P 2 E 1 C 9 I 1 A 4 L 9
What can I say you always get your way. This vats critical shot build just turns nature itself into your friend be it getting a good price at the store or just happening to shoot the right spot.
Recommended perks critical banker, better criticals, rifleman/commando
And if you want to embrace real stupidity get idiot savant.
The renegade
S 3 P 4 E 4 C 10 I 2 A 2 L 3
No one screws with you the renegade can dominate a fight and a conversation.
Recommended perks commando, bloody mess, chem resistant black widow/lady killer intimidation.
Last the psychopath
S 10 P 1 E 10 C 1 I 1 A 1 L 4
The build that brings out the crazy.
No negotiations on prisoners just acting as a bullet sponge while you take everyone down with a blunt heavy object.
Recommended perks life giver, adamantium skeleton, big leagues, blacksmith, armorer.
Yes, this generally ends up with plasma rifle and power armor. I'd rather mod in harder fights than run around in flimsy clothes in a combat environment.
1 end, 3 str for armor, 9 int and 8 or 9 cha, I forgot. I just got it due to the show and remake since I was put off by bad initial press.
Codsworth makes a great Jarvis and calls me Mr. Stark, it's great, collecting energy weapons and probably going to add automatic bonuses + knockdown for it.
I'm enjoying the colony management also, but they don't get attacked enough? I'm trying to slant it with 300++ water and 67 defense right now at Sanctuary.
I'm always a little at odds with this game since I like semi serious stuff in my nuclear armageddons and they like bordering on Borderlands goofy tier weapons which I tend not to want to build around.
Another FPS type character I try to pull off is John Preston from Equilibrium (TetraGrammaton Cleric of Gun Fu fame). It's always difficult since proper gun fu should involve pistol bashing with blitz along with the actual quick draw shooting of the Gun Fu perk but bashing tends more toward shotguns and str not agi. Since I don't think you can blitz without a real melee weapon, a punch switch might be acceptable.
I will give that another try here but it's a big of a square peg round hole thing that I didn't want to try on my first playthrough, whereas everything lined up nicely on power armor for the Stark build.
STR to 6 for overloaded fast travelling
PER to 4 for lockpicking
END at 1
CHA at 1
INT to 10 for the use of the book and the bobble head
AGI to 3 for sneaking
LUC to 3 for Bloody Mess
Later AGI up to 7 for Ninja and CHA up to 5 plus bobble head for supply lines
I usually rather invest in rifle man, because it is probably the most versatile specialization of the 4 ranged options. Gunslinger gives you an early advantage, but rifle man will come out stronger the longer you play. Eventually, you will rather combine rifle man with commando or heavy gunner than to keep on using pistols. The perks actually drive you to a silenced, scoped rifle as your standard weapon, I think. Regardless whether your do VATS or not.
