Games on Windows 7 PC
Have found a strange thing with Steam. This PC is Windows 7 (which is finished with Steam) yet I can login (verify it) check my queue and buy stuff, yet it won't let me play games on it. I heard that I could play games offline if a verified login, but seems not....odd. Does anyone know what is going on?....Thanks in advance for any help.

pretty sure a while back steam dropped support for windows 7. you may have to upgrade to win10 in order to keep playing games via steam.

Hi mate, cheers for the reply, but knew steam had dropped support for Windows 7. As I have 3 PCs, just trying this again as sure I heard that Win 7, would still work in offline mode, as all my games are saved, and can be linked (sync'd) to other PCs......Win 10 is impossible to find now, and this PC not compatible with Win 11....

pretty sure you can upgrade to win10 for free if you have windows 7.

You were told what is going on but refuse to accept it. Bottom line is win7 is so old nobody supports it anymore. Upgrade and modernize or accept the harsh reality.

My offline version of steam fallout 4 worked fine for 5 weeks after they removed support for 7, so I suspect you might have had something needing to be downloaded or installed.

You have to have taken steam offline before this, you can't just GO offline now. It's way too late for that.

Also 10 is out there, I bought it with my new ssd to update. I'm on the same physical computer save for the boot drive being different and can swap between 7 and 10 with a bit of effort. Though truth be told I haven't swapped back in several months. I still don't *like* 10 mainly because of its layout, demanding popups you can't remove, and inherent changes that make my art programs not recognize png transparencies while I'm working with them but hey. lol. Overall it's 'fine'. You can't get a full Windows version any more, but OEMs are certainly easily and reasonably cheaply available.
