So you blew up the Nucleus, you talked to Allen about it, shared the story over couple of drinks, there were some merchants from the Commonwealth appaled at how you spoke about it with such gusto and smile, laughing, yea the cult is a nuisance but did they deserve to be killed like radroaches? Merchants go back and tell the story, it spreads around and someone from the cult heard it, traveled across the land and spread the word of the Heathen of Atom, bringer of death and destruction to His followers and making a mockery of the Divison

Maybe it was Mama Murphy, since she has visions of things she couldn't reasonably know about. Or there could just have been one of them nearby who saw you leave, story-wise.
