What quest line sends you to Goodneighbor?
Decided to start a new playthrough recently for the first time in ages, with one of my goals being to run through some of the quest/story lines that I have eather skipped or missed or otherwise didn't have for whatever reasons in previous playthroughs, with several of those revolving around Goodneighbor.

I know I can just go there or end up there whenever but I'm kinda wanting to get there the "correct" way this time.

Listening to the Silver Shroud Radio station should do it.

You go there with Nick and the main storyline, Curie's affinity quest (but it requires the main questline anyway), or the beer protectron quest. Nick's is arguably the "correct" way

Thanks, I forgot about that line lol.
I know Curie and the beer robot would get me there as well.
I couldn't remember if there was anything main story or faction related that did tho, I'm feeling like there was.

Thank you, Curie's quest was one of those I was trying to remember on the order of things. I couldn't remember if I needed to be there before her line or not😎

Heading to Goodneighbor early on is a "correct way." If you visit the Memory Den early there is a scene for trying to relive the Kellogg incident in the vault. Then they send you towards Nick Valentine.

Not necessarily. To turn Curie human takes a while and knowing about the Memory Den beforehand would certainly make more sense than some quest dialogue later in the game hinting you at it or telling you about it.

Same with the beer robot as you can choose to keep it and you might not want to send it there. Besides, that beer robot quest has quite a few bugs and the thing can get stuck. :steamfacepalm:

The Silver Shroud Radio signal will however pop up on your PipPoy as soon as you get near that part of the city and asks you to listen to it, which will then ask you to see Trent. You would have to deliberately ignore it in order not to get the quest.

And as Bored Peon pointed out correctly, will the Memory Den send you to Nick in Diamond City after reliving the memory, which again makes a bit more sense than just going into Diamond City and stumbling across Nick. You will automatically end up at the Memory Den when you follow the Sliver Shroud quest, because Trent broadcasts from the Memory Den.

But there is no correct or wrong way in the end.

Interesting thanks. I did know the memory den but I don't think I knew it sent you to Nick after.... hmmm.

Thanks, I know my last playthrough I ended up with a couple broken story lines that I was never able to finish. I'm fairly sure I ended up there from finding the beer bot and I was thinking I got there too early and triggered a few things that shouldn't have been. But most likely the broken stuff was probably just bugged or something lol.

There is all sorts of redundant quests and dialogues to send you to Diamond City and to Nick.

Like if you fail the conversation with the Mayor and Piper the preacher can send you to Nick.

Alternatively, follow the Freedom Trail to find Railroad HQ to start RR questline. It leads you right past Goodneighbor.

Ok so funny enough, when I was trying to remember how it worked, I was guessing eather a main quest OR a railroad quest that puts you there. Not sure why I never considered it could be both.

This is what I like about this game... and sort of hate aa well.... is the amount of ways to go about doing things and why I was wanting to do another playthrough. :steamhappy:

You first have to learn about the Freedom Trail. There is a sign at Swan's pond, but one can easily walk past it and never notice it. However, one can learn about the Freedom Trail from people in Goodneighbor, among others. From scavengers (random encounter) to Diamond City guards, NPCs will talk about it randomly as part of their monologues, which will active the Freedom Trail quest and put it into your journal with a marker to the start of it at the pond.

If you already know where the RR is and the code word, you don't need to do anything. Just go to the church and enter the password. There might be different dialog options to choose if you don't use the route.

You can also learn about the Freedom Trail from overhearing conversations in Diamond City.

Yeah they definitely throw that at you constantly. Bunker Hill, Diamond City, just wandering around the area.
