"janky" is in the eye of the beholder. However, if you're running an rtx 2, 3, 4xxx model video card, there are things you'll need to do in order to smooth out your performance.
You don't own the game on that account, so I have to assume you're either using a family share version or only looking at videos.
If you actually own the game on this account, please post your system specs by going to the top of your steam library window, click HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION and post the whole list. That way it'll be much easier to see whether your computer is going to need specific changes for the game's ini files to work correctly and you get a better experience from it.
i will say. if you plan on buying the game Get it on GOG people seem to be more interested in that version since of the none Forced updates. but i play fallout 4 on playstation 4. sometimes its great. if you dont feel like sitting at ur desk. or what ever. but i will say the computer version is honestly better. depending on system specs. but if you have the GOTY Fallout 4 with all dlcs. building is more fun on the computer since you can have more options to toggle on or off with building like u can toggle snapping items off and such. like console i never found away to build better in console versions. but back to what Zekiran was saying depending on your system specs hardware. honestly you could most likely get away with a laptop that has 16gb of ram. and a decent CPu with at least 500GB but dont quote me on that lol i like console gaming though. more for single player type games is why i own a ps4 to play older like games in bed. just put a 10TB SSD in a ps4. and play single player games lol is what i do. honestly. its fun honestly going to console with single player games fallout 4 is fun on the console its like you can see a change. in playstyles lol but enough yapping for me. Cdkeys.com has GOTY gog for $8.52 and Steam version pick your poison. lol if you hate forced updates then id get the GOG Version key. but do your research. on both Befor just buying one. because say if fallout 4. Drops next gen on steam "all the mods would be broken if the update comes out" but if you have GOG i think you force stop updates if you want or just buy 2 copys wich ever you perfer but good luck on what your doing !
But you can also have a personal computer that runs the game far better than a console, and with a much wider range of options because it's not chained to that console standard. And where a bug occurs on both PC and console, you'll have a better chance of fixing or handling it on PC. That is a common problem, since the FPS in Fallout 4 is chained to other processing, and if it's not capped your computer can try to run the game above the intended maximum of 60 FPS.
The movement is still slightly faster than on the Xbox One edition, but I assume that's because it's capped at 30.
Last week I installed everything ( steam and Nexus accounts and now 2 games ) to my new
SSD . I reinstalled Fo4 and all the mods ( at least the one's I remembered ) , and so far I've got 150 hours into the game and so far , the game has yet ( touch wood ) to crash .
I think Zekiran nailed it , It all depends on both your software and how the game's set up .
You almost get the sense of it if you do many different things. Saving after any major changes helps.
Other than that I'm also taking breaks more, pacing it which in turn makes it even more stable :shrugs:
I'd say out of all the FPS games I've played over the years this has been probably the best "first run" experience of any of those games.
And the biggest help is here. If in doubt search here. Some janky glitched quests can even fix themselves. looking down at you Rhys...
