Save files/characters missing

I have a few ideas to create some new characters. I have had 5 of 7 characters just vanish. I don't use mods of any kind, nobody else plays Fallout 4. Now I am not sure if I want to create any characters or even play Fallout 4 anymore. I saw that only 2 characters were still there and I was like Palmer from John Carpenter's The Thing: You gotta be Fn Kidding.

Is this about NPC disappearing, or is this about your main character? If it is savefiles and the main character that have gone missing then get rid of OneDrive. People have lots of problems with it.

And check your drive for errors just in case.

You can only have one character per game, which you can change the appearance of at the intro. Sounds to me like your saves are being overwritten by the new characters you are making in a new game. Its the same with companions only one at a time. With mods the sky is the limit with them, but you really only need a couple at most.

Do you mean "you are on a computer that is being shared by multiple people"?

Sorry for the vague post.

NPC's are not disappearing, It's the main character(s) that I create. I will look into losing OneDrive.

Save files being overwritten, that is certainly not a good thing.

I am the only one this account.

It's weird, first time this ever happened. I logged into Skyrim and all my characters are still there.

When you load a game it defaults to the saves of the last played character. When you go to load a game from a different character you need to look up and change the directory to show all saves. Then you will see other characters saves.

^ This. It's easy to miss other character's you have created because it only shows the saves involved with the current character. So check this first (My memory isn't great so I may be wrong, but I thought it was the same way with Skyrim, so perhaps you already knew this and have checked properly. But it's still a good reminder just in case. Check that first, then lose OneDrive as I too have heard of issues with it. )
