Do you skill in all crafting perks everytime ?
My feeling towards FO4 crafting is kinda a love hate relationship, because I think its pretty overwhelming pretty fast and the craft item mangment is alot.

I mostly put 3 or 4 points into strength and alot into int just for crafting, I don't like that the crafting perks are all over the perk tree but playing without them also feels weird, because when I find a good weapon I like to being able to upgrade it.

Do you put points into all the crafting perks everytime or do you mostly play without ?

Lockpicking, hacking, and making things do what Nate wants them to do. (Perception, Charisma, and Intelligence.) My Nate's Fallout Myers-Briggs type indicator is:

I think what do I intend to do and what do I need to get the best out of it.

I never totally focus on crafting alone; just what is needed at the time and alittle for the future.
At the end of the day it's about making intelligent decisions to what you require or think you will require depending on your play style.

Never do things because you `feel` like it. Do what you need.

Fallout 4 crafting has the same downsides as Skyrim crafting: It can make you OP eventually and greatly diminishes what you find in the wild vs what you upgrade yourself. Of course Bethesda attempted to fix this issue with the legendary effect system, so it is not as bad. But, while most of my characters do get at least 2 crafting skills (armorer is a must and gunsmith and/or science depending on if i am going ballistic or energy focused), it makes the game easier, if i want a challenge, then i get no crafting skills at all.

I generally will grab all the crafting stuff. Maybe not immediately, but eventually. Priority really depends on your build and playstyle. I just like being able to craft and upgrade whatever I want, whenever I want

no matter the character i always make sure i can improve armor.. so at least 3 strength, and as soon as i can get 2 points in armorer it's going there.
if i am not doing a melee focus, then i will get gun nut, so int 3.. sometimes even if i'm going melee i will get gun nut eventually, and build up a good gun for my companion and probably a decent one for me to take gun turrets i can't reach with melee to easily.
melee type also means the blacksmith perk.. (but str of 9) otherwise no.

unless i really need the points somewhere else i will get lockpicking as well, it generally pays for itself between the loot and xp for picking locks, plus helps build affinity with some.. but perception 3 + the early bobblehead.

armorer is usually ok at level 2 for some time.. so i can do shadowed and deep pocketed on combat armor.

if possible science is actually helpful for improving guns and even some melee weapons... but not a priority.

TLDR: yes and no.. i don't max them, but do use most.

generally it is a good idea to get gun nut, armorer and science since those cover almost all worthwhile modifications to guns, armor and power armor. as well as giving access to really good settlement objects.

the crafting perks you should really ignore are the ones that tied to specific weapon types you don't intend to use during your run. i.e you don't need melee mods if you aren't gonna use melee weapons.

You can push your own meta by seeing how long you can do without a perk you've relied on before, until you've reached some self set point. Does wonders for breaking up ruts.
You can keep playing until you get every perk you want, so experiment. Your only enemies are: lack of ideas, pet peeves, and boredom.

No, I usually just take gun nut and armorer. I like messing around with the weapon mods and settlements, but going down the intelligence perk tree requires too much of an investment.

Sometimes I want something different, like a robot army protecting my settlements. Sadly, in my experience, sentry bots don't last all that long in survival difficulty. It's fun to have laser turrets and sentry bots everywhere, though.

Yeah, I have serious urge to do so, especially since some recipes require two of those at once. I also grab charisma ones for the sake of crafting stations and stores for all my needs in convenient places. It really saves some time. BTW my hoarding tendencies are rather absurd.

since you realise you can live without making a scope on plasma rifle you can stop doing this and instead take some more usable perks
