Should I use the high resolution texture pack or not?

Looking to start a first time playthrough once the mods are fixed, do most people recommend using the texture pack in 2024 or a separate mod instead?

I don't think it's worth the ridiculous amount of space it takes up personally. They're just higher resolution versions of the base textures and most of them you'd have to have side by side to notice the difference.

If you want to have textures that look basically identical taking up an additional 50GB or more then sure lol there is almost zero visual difference and they double the size of the game.

I’ve never used it myself, but from what I have heard over the years the HD Texture Pack DLC is problematic.

I’ve heard people claim that it eats performance like crazy, even though the textures really aren’t THAT great looking because they’re poorly optimized.

I’ve also seen claims of people encountering the “rusty face” bug more often while using this pack.

The best texture mods that preserve the original look but increase the quality are probably Vivid Fallout AIO, or SavrenX’s various packs.

The thing is you won't notice any difference. They are way too big for what little they offer and have a higher chance of tanking your performance as well. It's just absolutely not worth it at all. You are better off playing with vanilla textures.

I myself am using a mix of different mods as well as ENB to make the game, imo, look way better.

you can if you want, the only real prerequisite is 8GB VRAM minimum... it's OK, but about half the textures are upscaled not regenerated at 1024x1024, and your GPU probably does a better job doing the upscaling... it's a beast though. If you don't like it or aren't noticing enough enhanced details, you can turn it off and delete it, no harm no foul, just the waste of 60Gb bandwidth testing it...

Unless you have very strong hardware and a 4K monitor, forget about the official texture pack. If you do have the hardware, it can't hurt, but the difference won't be that much noticeable most of the time. Some textures are vastly improved but most are not and you can hardly notice any difference. Overall, the hardware cost relatively to the improvement in visual quality is very steep. Only use it if you have a monster PC.

No, i finally installed it and removed from my library for good 2 days ago, through the support tab. it was causing worse performance, and def runs better now. Still takes forever to load into the open world though, same as with it,but i feels smoother now.

I haven't seen a decent texture mod updated yet, but i'm sure there is some coming.

playing this game with texture mods packs and the official dlc texture packs .
the reallity for the bad reviews on the official texture packs , its all about modders won't support it that all ;).

what we get with the official texture packs , a good balance on improvement on visual graphics but it won't cover all assets . if you want an total overhall texture pack , get ready to DL over 120 Go of texture pack mods on nexus . i've done this without a premium nexus account its quite the hell xD

so yes on nexus website , we can get better texture mod , but
- need to find all texture pack that match ( same DA , color , vibe , ..)
- need to find all patch , fix ,
- without a premium account , it take a very , very long time to dl all of this

if you want just to play without any change on gameplay , or other mod , just pick the official texture pack ( just check if you have the base requirement config/setup )

The 4k HD Overhaul from Luxor, is something like 50GB
The 2k (which still has a very nice improvement for the game) is less.

I have downloaded and used both for thousands of hours.
