There is a mod that lets you tinker around with various survival settings as well so you can pretty much make your own survival mode if you like the sound of that.
Well joking aside, but personally Survival sound like a pain in the ass. I use the normal difficulties aka : Start at normal, and crank it up later on.
Keep in mind I don't care about that whole 'You must sleep, you must eat...it gotta feel real'. I still remember trying that in Skyrim and it was nothing but a chore! I wasted more time trying to find Food and a place to crash than actually enjoying the game itself and Questing.
But that's just me.
Other than that though .. it makes for much more entertaining and involved gameplay and can lead to strategy and involvement you wouldn't otherwise partake in and experience.
Although sleeping to save .. which then impacts your character and no stuck button really hurts it rn
Really they had a good model with New Vegas's survival mode. They didn't need to add the stupid sleep to save gimmick, which IMO is not at all what survival mode is supposed to be about.
Survival can be easy if you THINK like a Survivor where very Very Hard is just Very Hard for the sake of it.
...but honestly at a moment i am playing a hardest way for me i believe. Settlement buildings and so on... its totally differend way i prefer to play and get used to. I also admit i am hoarder so visiting buildings etc... can be really tedious for me..hehe :)
I quess got used to mods like FROST wich makes items more harder to find and overall less in a map... now i am in a Classic Survival and i feel like drowning to a stuff to have.
..if you are just looking to " shoot to kill" then dont go for survival because it does adds its own micromanagement wich would not perhaps suite for you interests.
Very Hard = bullet sponge enemies (especially at very high level)
Pick your poison.
If you know what you are doing the game isn't actually hard once you get over level 20 or so (survival is probably harder than very hard though).
survival = no fast travel, yes adrenaline, no saves, sickness everyday
only immersive difference is; you need to eat drink and sleep regularly in survival, you get sick and need to plan your saves before actions..
but you deal more damage + have to walk everywhere in exchange
which is more enjoyable? it depends how much you like the pain.. survival is much more slow paced gameplay, you gonna need patience and planning
Survival. You will learn to deal with the mechanics pretty easily. DO NOT RUIN YOUR EXPERIENCE BY CHEATING.
