here's my positive next gen update review
so i have 1700 hours on this game. countless playthrus and i used to run 120 nexus mods.
my specs are: AMD FX-6300, Radeon RX 590, 16 Ram. in case you didn't know, you should have a ssd drive by now and FO4 installed on it. Also Bethesda games are made for 60 fps and 60 fps only. lock your fps to 60 in the graphic card settings. for me with amd, its called "chill mode" and you turn that off and from 300 to 60. i also installed 10 mods from the creations club, Verdant wastelands, Better graphics and Weather, Sunlight alignment, Settlement electricity, Colored map, Radio 76, 2 player homes and 2 little extra quests.

the first thing i noticed was the game looks sharp and runs smooth at a steady 60 fps. anywhere, only in the problem zones it dips to 40 but goes back to 60 almost emidiatly.
also the loading times were better than i expected. loading in or out of interors is almost instantly and to other locations it usually takes 5 to 20 seconds. the longest i've had was like 40 seconds. i played 40 hours so far, went to Boston common, Good Neighbour Flanieu hall (you know what i mean) and Bunker Hill. everywhwere 60 fps. and i didn't have a single crash so far. i still quick safe every 5 minutes thou ^^.

there are only to rather small issues i have and both are again related to the fps lock. in tight corners you might still get this wonky speed up and the lock picking is also sped up. but by now, we all should be virtual master lock picks.

i still do miss some basic mods like no more settlement attacks and skip that stupid nuka cola quest. i hope mods will be available at some point again. but for the moment i am enjoying my vanilla play thru without any problems.

so yea, as much as i like dumping on Todd, this update gets a thumbs up from me. :winter2019cooldog:

Only in the problem zones it dips to 40 but goes back to 60 almost emidiatly. So they didnt fixed nothing? Before update game already look amazing on Pc and will be better option to not forced people with this 10 years late update, they only break mods and nothing else...Terrible.

Thankyou for not hopping on the hate bandwagon and being objective about it.

On the subject of mods, all mods except the ones that use F4SE should work just fine.

I capped my fps to 120 and set VSync to Always On in the Adrenalin software. I haven't seen any issues yet.

I'm pleasantly surprised I can play on my widescreen. I put my 2nd survival playthrough on hold since Sep 22 when my 4k tv bust.

I think I have one anxiety is whether the creation club settlement ambush kit works. I bought that CC so I don't need to go so far to resolve settlement fights. Also gave me a good reason to equip settlers with some hot hardware and to build masses of automatic laser turrets.

Spectator island is a Deathclaw farm. I think I got 33 settlers and 7 deathclaws there. Hope the raiders will oblige. Might end up with 30 plus deathclaws eventually....

They literally haven't done any performance fixes but alright.
Loading times are even worse than before, sometimes stuck in a min loading screen.

Very cool todd.

none of what you said has anything to do with the update, you just installed some mods from bethesda net ...

in vanilla, in the problem zones my fps dropped to 5 fps. literally unplayable. then i modded the crap out of the game and i got my 60 fps. getting 60 fps without mods is a win for me.
the mod thing is sad, but they will recover. with FO beeing more popular than ever before, modders will have every reason to stay active.

I'm seeing similar results. Boston being crash free, and lag free for that matter, is a HUGE bonus.

I've had almost no problems or complaints, but I hadn't played in years so I installed a clean vanilla copy of the next gen version. From what I've read here, most unhappy players are the ones who upgraded old installs of the game that have had years of modifications. It's no wonder they're having technical problems.
