The reason Todd decided to screw over the Fallout London.
This latest half assed update was him capitalising on sales with the latest tv show and it worked wonders for him. As we all wait with tainted breath for Fallout London, there is no money to be made for TODD as it is a free MOD and 99% of the player base will be current fallout owners.

No, this "update" clearly took potshots into the direction of mods. I have no other way to explain why they did changes that:

1. Are BC incompatible
2. Require additional work on their end
3. Bring no value to the end user
4. Could be done cheaper without 1-2

Example would be compiler change. Or BA format changes. Regular players won't ever notice or even know what those mean. No sales value there. And those needed to be implemented, tested (? okay, it's Bethesda, they are unlikely to test it), released. I see absolutely no reason to do it and everything in the "update" was doable with the tech they already had - as evident by former DLCs.

The worst thing is that now that Bethesda have released an expansion they will probably need to release a few hotfixes as well. So that is going to continue to mess with all the mods especially Fallout London. It's a crappy thing to do really. Would serve them right if everyone abandoned all their new games. Teach them a lesson.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about a Fallout in London. It sounds incredibly boring to me. Oooh look, an old red bus. Yawn.

Teach them what lesson exactly? That they should rely even more on modders to fix their things? But at the same time we have people complain about this exact thing.

You guys are so dramatic. You mod at your own risk and you know that updates mess with them. That’s all there is to it. Just wait or don’t update your game. Simple as that.

All of us modders (including the FOLON team) have known since October 2022 that this update was coming with the show. It was not a surprise to any of us.

The FOLON team could have reached out to Bethesda at any time - they do actually have access to Bethesda staff. They did not. They had the misguided belief that Bethesda should reach out to them. The sheer audacity to think that they are that important is laughable.

The fact that they broke the base game, development tools, and for many of us, access to creation club, right before a weekend, was a bit more than expected, but it will be managed, as these updates always are.

They owe them nothing. The author of London knew this....

Same. I can appreciate the work that went into it, but have no interest in playing it. Content that isn't canon just doesn't interest me.

I doubt they were targeting London on purpose, but really didn't care if it effected the mod. The Creation Kit itself is a way to target mods, and to try to make money off of them, but they don't want to be seen targeting them directly because it is bad optics, and might lose sales if it appeared that way.

The update is just a lazy attempt to garner new sales with minimum effort. One would hop they would of done an exhaustive bug fix, but they are not going to spend that kind of money to fix the game at this late stage of the game. It is possible to get a hot fix for their update on their end in the future, but just for things that were advertised as the next gen update.

In a couple months, mods that are still being worked on will be completely fixed, and London will be released.

Fallout London has been in production for years yet Sim Settlements 2 which is what I consider the real game has gotten traction.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about another Fallout in USA. It sounds incredibly boring to me. Oooh look, another Yankee cowboy. Oooh look, Brotherhood of Steel again. Oooh look, Enclave returns once again. Oooh look, another settlement needs your help. I will mark it on your map. Yawn.

All I can say is bethesda has always had a bitter-sweet relationship with modders. they know modders has made most their games successful (Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout), they know some modders make some of their Devs look incompetent. they also know there's money there, if they can figure a way to squeeze it out of the ordinary gamer.

Their jealously and greed is why they don't care for modders or the players at all. in fact, if they could bethesda would take total ownership of all mods and force Players to pay for each, hence the 'Creation Club' Con.

If only bethesda would treat the modder and player decently with respect and not be constantly seeking to squeeze as much money out of us as possible, they would have so much support, respect and MORE sales from the main game than they have now....

But greed and the love of money blinds them.

"Tainted breath". 🤣

Todd dont care about giant mod release. Most developers dont.
SerraShaar Apr 29, 2024 @ 4:17am
if that was the case then ALL Mods would have stopped working. Yet, some peeps are reporting that only Mods that use the Script Mod aren't working.

OP has way to much confidence for the BS he is spreading. Imagine being so self-entitled that you demand dev's don't update their game just because you can't play with some mods for a couple of days. Let me guess, constantly screaming for a manager IRL?
