Fallout 4 Not Starting
Hello all! I'm having issues starting Fallout 4. I know my computer has the capability to run it because I already had a few hours in the game without any issues, but when I started up this morning, it wouldn't work. Just to be sure, I updated all drivers anyways, and still nothing.

Each time I run the launcher, pressing "Play" just closes the app, not opening Fallout. Sometimes, Steam will display that "Fallout 4 is attempting to launch with optional parameters shown below: -len". I'm not sure what -len is. I haven't added any optional parameters, and double checked that there are none set. But the issue persists, and it still says that it's using that parameter. I've updated, restarted, and done some things that people said would help, but no dice. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Edit: Issue solved on my end! Typed the following into the launch options (found in properties) section:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Fallout 4\Fallout4.exe" SteamDeck=0 %command%

Nothing really working after a few tries, just going to try to re-install it and see what happens

I'm having this issue as well tonight after playing fine yesterday. Will report back if I make any progress after verifying files.

EDIT: After verifying files, things work fine

Update: I re-installed the game and made sure to verify files. Game still doesn't open after clicking Play on the launcher. Any help appreciated!

One thing that I noticed changed since the last time I was able to run it: It now says "Are you sure you want to allow an app from an unknown developer to make changes to your device" or something along those lines. It didn't give this notification when it ran before.

Are you running the game with any mods installed?

If not, I would recommend opening the settings on the launcher that pops up and taking a look there. Try capping frames or lowering the quality.

I am (only the ones through Bethesda in the main menu), but it worked just fine with them installed earlier. Would there be a way to remove them without being able to get to that menu?

Edit: Removed the mods from the Fallout 4 folder, and still not working. Quality is set to the lowest possible for every option. I'm stumped!

I have the same issue. No mods, fresh install, verified files. A window pops up briefly after the launcher and then disappears. Game just won't launch.
Hello, the problem with the game is the lack of dll msvcp140.dll and VCRUNTIME140.DLL only download Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 Redistributable

I fixed this issue by going Library - Fallout4 - Manage - Browse Local file - right click "Fallout4.exe"- Properties - Compatibility - untick all (especially the "disable fullscreen optimization")- apply - OK.
Then on launcher select:
Windowed mode
Borderless
put aspect ratio: Native
Resolutions: to your screen size.
That fixed the issue for me.

Deleting your .ini files and letting the launcher create new ones also helps with getting rid of the "-len" error.
