Scavenging Stations
starting to like the settler system tbh.

scavenging stations give 1 random junk item per day if unassigned or 2 if assigned.
does that also include stuff like crystals and nuclear material. the more exotic stuff not just wood and steel?

they collect up to 100 items (plus more if many settlers)

but lets say i have sanctuary and red rocket connected via a supply line, all scavenging stations in sanctuary: would emptying inventory in sanctuary to red rocket stop production of junk in sanctuary?

So if you have 7 unemployed people in a settlement, they will automatically generate 7 pieces of a junk every 24 hours.

Building a scav station and assigning a settler to it will produce 2 pieces of junk a day.

So if you have 7 people who you each assign to a scav station, they will generate 14 pieces of junk every 24 hours.

Unemployed and scav station assigned settlers will stop generating junk items when the total amount of junk/components in the workshop exceeds 100 + (population x 5).

So if you have a settlement with 10 people, you can only have a maximum of 150 junk/component items in your workshop before unemployed and scav station settlers will stop generating junk.

What I’m not certain of is if this means 150 differently named items (regardless of how much of each you have), or literally 150 individual items - like they’ll stop generating junk if you toss in 150 wood, or you have 10 empty Nuka cola bottles, 80 Steel, 5 telephones, 5 typewriters, and 50 concrete.

The junk that settlers collect while either unemployed or when working a scav station is entirely random.

They may collect common “low tier” junk more often (empty bottles, coffee cups, desk fans, etc), but they’re able to generate more uncommon and rare junk too (death claw hands, sensor modules, wakemaster alarm clocks, etc).

Supply lines allow you to use junk/component from all connected settlements in build mode but you cannot access the junk/component inventories of all connected settlements from one workshop.

Meaning that if you have Sanctuary and Red Rocket connected via supply line, and enter build mode at the RR, you’ll be able to automatically use the junk/components of both the RR and Sanctuary when building something at the RR (and vice versa).

However, if you open up the RR’s workshop, you will only see the “local inventory” - the junk, components, weapons, food, etc stored at the RR. You won’t see a combined list of the RR and Sanctuary’s workshop inventories, and the “local inventories” of one will not impact the other in regards to junk collection.

Junk in one connected settlement won't stop scavenging in another.

If you have unemployed, build more Scavenging Stations.

Dont forget Brahman troughs. Up to 3 for that fertilizer for making ammo.

Scavenging is overrated anyway. Put them to work on crops. Each farmer can get you 3 Adhesive a day from vegetable starch.
