DXVK Improved My Game on Windows

DXVK is a Direct X to Vulkan translation layer originally developed for Linux, but the .dll files can be used on Windows. My game has shown a very noticeable improved to frame rate and overall smoothness. Also, this ever present blurriness to the graphics has gone away. You should always take care using tools like these and make sure you download the DXVKs from the official GitHub site to avoid fake versions loaded with malware.

The latest version 2.3.1 is at the URL below, the file you want is sxvk-2.3.1.tar.gz which can be opened using 7Zip.

The two files you need are...

d3d11.dll
dxgi.dll

Place these in the root directory of Fallout 4 in your Steam Library. You need both files or Fallout 4 will not launch. You don't need to configure any .ini files either.

NOTE: Certain in-game overlays can potentially interfere with DXVK and cause a crash. If you have any problems disable or or more of the following...

1. Any overlay provided by game launchers (Steam, Epic Games Store, Uplay, Origin)
   
2. The NVIDIA GeForce Experience overlay
   
3. The RivaTuner Statistics Server overlay
   
4. Open Broadcaster Software recording
