Game won't launch following update
Completed the update this morning. Can't launch game from desktop or in the Steam app either one. The Steam launcher opens, verifies everything as "working", then just doesn't open the acutal game.

I've never modded. Only used a few console commands. Only have the version that's sold here on Steam. Not sure what's up.

they ruined the game period. now we have to wait for modders to fix this disaster, they should give us the option to rollback n install the previous version

Tried removing/deleting the fallout4prefs.ini file in documents and run it?
Controlled folder access blocking it since the .exe change recently?

Disable "Weapon Debris" in the "Advanced" section of the graphics settings in the main launcher. Has never worked for me and causes instant crash or black screen where I need to kill the process. If that doesn't work, let me know your screen's refresh rate. In my experience, anything past 240hz can and will cause black screen. There's some tweaks to fix this as well.

PS: Check to make sure that Fallout 4's Launcher isn't trying to load a screen resolution that doesn't match your actual resolution.

If the game wont launch THE GAME HAS UPDATED SUCESSFULLY. Sheesh.

are you trying to use mods?

The game works without issues when you only use mods that are compatible with the Fallout 4 version that you are running.

All mods that worked before the NextGen update work fine if you didn't upgrade to the NextGen version

and will work if you downgrade Fallout 4 to the previous version.

No mods. I DL this a few weeks ago. Worked fine to start with, but only from the desktop icon, and not with the launch button in the Steam launcer.

Update went without issue. The launch thinks I've played today, but I have not. With both the desktop icon and the launcher, it starts to load with the Steam screen, but never opens the game. Just stops and you're still just looking at the desktop or the launcher. No transitions. No black screens. Nothing.

I can't get the game to open at all. Steam tries to launch it, but it just fails. Doesn't even try to transition into the game. No access to any settings in the game.

Go to your Documents/My Games and delete the Fallout 4 folder. Then run verify game files on Steam so that it creates a new folder there and try to start it. Worked for me.

Sounds silly, but is there any chance you're missing DirectX or a redist? Almost sounds like that or a really old AMD / NVIDIA driver. What kind of GPU are you running?

I enabled windowed mode in the launcher settings, the game started successfully but with the wrong resolution. I went back to the launcher settings and disabled windowed mode. For some reason, these steps helped me, game works now.
