Ok after 8 hrs plus managed to revert my game back to original and get mods to work. I aint tec savvy and getting bloody old lol, but this is how I did it.

1, I use vortex so on main page use Purge mode

2, uninstall game.

3, remove all files folders from game dir and where it saves your game and other game files, keep your save and stick it some where where you can find it.

4, download a fresh copy, nothing else and test game to see if it works, if yes then continue.

5, go do main installation folder and delete everything or move to a back up folder, 2 folders empty keep those to replace later. Your main game directory should now be empty.

6, download all the relevant depot files to your game, language and DLC`s etc.

7, create another folder name it to what ever, copy each depot folder to the new folder you created, BUT DO NOT COPY over depot_377163, do all other folders first, when done copy over 63 as this will write over some other files, yea it has to do this!

8, once copied over you should now have all the reverted game files in the new folder except 2, copy those back over where you stored them, then copy or cut and paste over to the original game folder.

9, change the game so it does not update.

10, run the game, nothing else and see if it works, if it does great.

11, reinstall all your mods use the deploy button, then retry game.

I did this to the letter and got it to work.

P.S I DID NOT DELETE ANY CC OR CCC FILES! Only the entire install dir, the new depot files still has them

sounds complicated, ppl shouldn't be pushed to do all this stuff just cuz incompetent company ruined the game.

nope not complicated at all, main instructions are way more complicated and missing vital info. Helped a few people on reddit with my method and they got it to work.

yea this is way too complicated for me. i have no idea what a depot is and i wouldnt even know how to open the console... it just sucks that a game ive been playing for years has now just been ruined because dumbass company decided to nuke the modding scene

Very simple and quick (35 Minutes):

Open your STEAM console (win+R):
steam://open/console

Copy and Paste EACH deposit file and download it (it will take a time):

after you download all of them: -->
Create a new Folder anywhere and Copy your downloaded deposits into it. (Overwrite: YES to all)

Now go to your FALLOUT 4/Data directory and delete ALL FILES with a "CC" at the beginning.

Now all you have to do is drag the deposits from the folder you created into your FALLOUT 4 directory and overwrite everything. COMPLETE.

-->If you use MODS you have to reinstall your FS4se. But it only takes 1 minute.


Took me 35 minutes to download the deposits.

Öffne Irgendwo einen neuen Ordner und Kopiere alle heruntergeladenen hinein. Überschreiben: JA FÜR ALLE

Jetzt gehe in dein FALLOUT 4 Verzeichnis/Data und lösche ALLE DATEIEN mit einem " CC " am Anfang.

Nun musst du nur noch die Deposits aus deinem erstellten Ordner in dein FALLOUT 4 verzeichnis ziehen und alles überschreiben. FERTIG.

Dauerte bei mir 35 Minuten wegen des Downloades der Deposits.

Dont` blame the company to update their product. It`s not their job to make sure mods work as well, you check every game, and all games say pretty much the same thing "mods can break the game and use at your own risk". If you cant do the roll back then you are going to have to wait for modders to update their mods to the new update, its always been like this since the first mods ever appeared in gaming.

If you had just made a complete backup on the 24th, you could just copy/paste your old version back in in a matter of minutes, with 4 clicks.
