Next Gen compatible mod list?
It would be fun to replay the game on "next gen" with some mods to make it look more like a modern game. Anyone has a recommended list of mods that works with the new version?

yeah right now I would stay away from any mods until f4se is fixed just to be safe.

doesn't the unofficial patch fix the issues with mods breaking?

or is that only done by someone using F4SE and reverting to the version of the game before this update?

I've been experimenting and so far I can say that any mod which doesn't require f4se will work fine. All the mods I use come from Nexus and the requirements section tells you whether or not you need f4se for a particular mod. I've installed a lot of mods after the new update that are in this category and they all work fine just like they always did.

The vast majority of mods don't require the script extender. As long as they don't list that as a requirement, they should work just fine. If you want "next gen" features, try
Then decide if you want to install an all-in-one pack like
  • Luxor's Fallout 4 HD Overhaul[www.nexusmods.com]- this is a collection of all (or almost all) of Luxor's texture overhauls. Luxor has a certain style, and if you like his style, this is a no-brainer. It's very comprehensive, and Luxor is pretty nice.
  • 4estGimp - SavrenX HD Textures Performance BA2 Set[www.nexusmods.com]- this is a bundle of SavrenX's tweaked versions of the HD DLC. It's much smaller than the HD DLC but retains its improved textures, so it makes for a nice base that gets replaced by higher quality textures.
  • Vivid Fallout - All in One[www.nexusmods.com]- this is a small texture pack that makes some minor tweaks to the landscape. It generally does look better, and it's available up to 4k. A good choice if you want a small texture pack.
  • FlaconOil's Complete Retexture Project[www.nexusmods.com]- Another smallish texture pack that makes quite a few tweaks to various non-landscape textures. It goes very well with the Vivid Fallout all-in-one.
  • Perfect landscape by Pfuscher[www.nexusmods.com]- If you're a Skyrim fan and like Pfuscher's style, this is probably mandatory.
If not, you can install lots of smaller texture mods. Or you could install a Collection from Nexus. Of course, then you're stuck with whatever choices that person made.

And some bugfix/quality of life stuff
Once F4SE is updated, you can get the rest of the "fix my game please" mods:
  • High FPS Physics Fix[www.nexusmods.com]- to fix the physics when playing at high frame rates. Also does some other cool stuff.
  • Weapon Debris Crash Fix[www.nexusmods.com]- in case you're using a video card that can't handle weapon debris, which is all Nvidia cards since the RTX 2000/GTX 1600 series.
  • Buffout 4[www.nexusmods.com]- a collection of engine bugfixes.
  • FallUI - HUD[www.nexusmods.com]- in case you're one of those people who can't stand the default UI.

Thank you for giving a detailed answer and providing a place for some people (like myself) to start.
