Bright glowing clouds at night
Soo, i noticed that no one except for me and a guy on reddit are talking about this.

After the next gen update, (still no 144+ fps support in 2024 is ridiculous), glowing bright clouds appeared in the distance, these are only noticeable at night but are a freaking punch in the eye, and on top of that if you look at them the game automatically lowers the brightness of the game, not letting me see anything at night.

The mods I had previously installed could be to blame, but i am quite sure that i've removed everything and that the game is now vanilla, if someone has a fix to this please let me know.

I have been seeing this too. Are you using ENB? If I point at the horizon it gets pitch black. look at my feet and it is normal. It seems like fog/haze is a light source instead of blocking light. Hence the auto adjustment when you point at them. (black)

same, I uninstalled enbseries and that fixed my issue.

Yes, it's 99% fault of enbseries, i fixed it in a more raw way disabling the glowing clouds using the console. since uninstalling enbseries didn't solve the issue for me, but that's probably because i didn't do it right.

It seems to have been baked into the save somehow, so I am curious what console commands you resorted to?

First i open the console and use "tfc" (toggle free cam) so that i can go closer to the clouds, the i open the console, click with the cursor to select the object and then type "disable". It's a bit annoying to do for every single one, but this was the only thing that worked for me.

There is a new version of ENB for Fallout 4 that fixes the issue with glowing clouds here [enbdev.com].
However, the new version does not have effects for Water, subsurface scattering and fog. I hope they are able to fix it in an upcoming verion...

First time I've posted on a forum but I felt the need to add to this because this was the fix that worked for me. I've dabbled with ENB and other mods in the past but since the Next Gen update launched it's hard to find reliable mods in the current state.
I should also add that I'm currently playing vanilla and have removed all previous (Nexus) mods. When removing the clouds, it's important to keep in mind that they're very heavily layered ( 1 giant cloud may in fact be 7). Be very meticulous when removing clouds and make sure you are clicking a solid piece (some clouds are patchy and you can click through them). I'm not entirely sure what I had clicked on, but I ended up disabling the entire commonwealth mountainscape/horizon (The entirety of the maps horizon from the ground up was blurred) and ended up having to reload a previous save and start over. So I recommend doing it in segments and saving every once in awhile. Also maybe going to a high vantage point with an unobstructed view (for me that was the top of trinity tower). I ended up doing it this way because my screen would go black in TFC free roam before I could get close enough for this to help. (EDIT: As I moved around the map I found that more clouds were spawning in different cities/areas so you'll probably have to repeat these steps as necessary). I'll admit that I rarely use console commands (Basically only to get unstuck) so I'm pretty new to this. In addition to that I'd like to add that when entering tfc into your console command it'll take you into a screen without your HUD (free roam) and you cannot click or select anything. If you enter tfc again your HUD will reappear and you can select things (if you click something and an item identifier code pops up just below the middle of your screen you're in the right place). Very worth it, as the glowing clouds made night-time gameplay almost unbearable, and was super straining on my eyes. Big shout out to JustMika who posted the TFC command walkthrough. You've made my replay a way more enjoyable experience.

heard there's problems with the latest ENB series, water effects and stuff like that.
This mod removes the clouds all together.
