The Mini Nuke is the worst on survival the moment I hear it I run only chance you got is maybe some cover, next worst thing for me is grenades and Missile Launchers, although the times an enemy uses their legendary weapon on me is also bad mostly the Gauss Rifles.
Love the fact that raiders and hostiles get more difficult the higher level you get. I cleared out the Mechanist long ago, and now I'm starting to see robo-brain patrols again.
TBH I've died the most to my own Legendary Explosive Double-Barrel Shotgun more then anything else, enemy jumps out I fire they're two feet from me I blow up along with them, or I'm moving from cover and there is something next to me as I fire and I blow up, It happens a lot less now but it still happens about every 20ish hours of play.
See I like the Double-Barrel because it gives me less chances to kill myself, I also just picked up a pipe rifle with the Exploding legendary effect so chambered in 38 and modded for Aromatic fire I may replace my Radium Rifle but I like the Volkssturmgewehr look and with so little real world looking weapons in Fo4 I tend to lean toward real world weapons.
One of the things I love about open world games is that where you start the game, you have so many resources around to help you level up, take advantage of them. It's a rule of thumb in any open world game really, the further you explore the tougher the enemies are.
All of that said, I do get the frustration with the enclave, they can come out of nowhere and just wipe you in seconds, but when I think back to when I first played fallout, I was just running along listening to tunes and died so much. I'm still dying but keep at it.
Or...
TGM
and drop the enemy. Then, use TGM again to turn off god mode....
If you want to cheat the kneecapper just to get out of the soft-lock, you can put one on a weapon with:
(grab weapon from the ground)

Kneecapper is one of the most OP legendaries in the game if you can make it an auto weapon, so happy happy joy if you get one. I used to throw them all into a locker because I didn't realize what I had. The only ones I've found on my current game were on melee weapons :P
