NEXT GEN: Was it reasonable to expect more?
Honestly, I'm a little disappointed, I don't know if I'm being too harsh but I expected something more, the physics are still broken at high fps, furthermore the 21:9 support doesn't work, the whole interface looks stretched.
Was it reasonable to expect more? I understand the age of the game, but there are mods that fix this. I wonder why these known problems aren't already solved natively.
I don't want to be misunderstood, I still love Fallout and will continue to play it, but the disappointment remains.

Honestly Bethesda would have went bankrupt years ago if not for allowing mods lol. Most of the stuff they break is usually fixed in a timely manner by the modding community.

I just wish they added some of the changes to the weapons from fallout 76 for both the sake of consistency between games, and consistency overall. Things like the flamer barrel for the plasma gun currently counting towards the rifleman perks instead of the commando perks, despite a flame thrower very much being an automatic weapon... or the tesla science magazine not giving extra crit to the laser rifle, and the rifleman perks "armor piercing" effect only effecting ballistic damage, energy weapons don't pierce through energy resistances. The flamer barrel was changed recently in 76 to make the weapon count as automatic, and forever ago they made it so armor piercing perks would also effect energy damage. It always confused me why they never did the same here.

You were disappointed?

This is Bethesda we're talking about. You shouldn't expect anything more or less then hogwash.

Not reasonable to expect much after all this time. Be happy with what does come.

With a couple years to work on this, I def expected more.

Your guess is as good as mine. There's a load of great mods out there that fix so much with this game. Some are little quality of life fixes others are major bug fixes like those found in the unofficial patch.

Hard to say what the decision on this was and why.

I'll take what I can get for this game though. 2017 was the last time they did anything for this game. Thats a long time ago.

I play @ 2160p and between 100-150 mods normally. (Right now I play with 0 mods) and I'm all for this update. I'm biased because outside of mods, it works for me.

What works? Downtown Boston is playing smooth as silk for me now, and not having to save before fast traveling there every time is a nice change of pace from the last 8 years. Super mutant city that it is. Is now as smooth for me as red rocket is. No mod ever did that for me.

Better still, my settlements aren't telling me on my pipboy, that they have 0 beds and 0 defense, when I know they have 24 beds and 15 rocket turrets, cause I just put them there an hour ago. This is a fix even modders couldn't achieve. Was called an engine limitation by the unofficial patch team.

So yeah it might not be NEXT GEN that people expected but I'm all for ANYTHING that adds future support to this game so that it can endure more years without becoming totally obsolete.

I whould at least expect that the announced features work as intended and from what i hear Ultra Widescreen does not really work, what is a bummer for everyone who has such a Monitor.

Can not say anything about that because i did not update or use an UW Widescreen.

I expected at the very least a simple fov slider. Bethesda always fail to deliver these days. They are the new Bioware.

Your not wrong to be disappointed. I didn't expect much myself, but I did expect HDR to be included, (as it's a basic "Next Gen" function). But nope, no HDR.

The game is something like 8 years old. Some single-player games don't even get more than a handful of patches before the developers move on.

The update was mostly to port FO4 to newer consoles. Before the specifics were announced, I was hoping that it'd be more like Skyrim Special Edition, and we'd get a new, updated engine. However, we knew it wasn't going to be anything like that even for the past week or two.

It would have been nice if they'd done a Special Edition, but I'm guessing Bethesda has committed all their resources to Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield.

>>> What is going on with you people ? You did not read all the changes Bethesda was intended to do via this update before today ? There were several articles, YouTube videos about this explaining everything about this update and it seems to me that you are not reading at all, you are not researching before hitting the button and that is why you are so disappointed and confused. If it was the red button to launch a nuclear weapon, we will be killed by you already ... lol ...
