Next Gen Update - Still No Fix for RTX cards
Seriously how does the "next Gen update" not include a fix for God Ray and Weapon Debris crashing on RTX graphics cards.... But if an oversight I'd say, guess I'll wait for script exteder and modders to fix that since Bethesda doesn't seem to want to.

Bethesda, can't expect anything different.

It's been a while since I've heard Geforce RTX cards referred to as "next gen" 😂 , which this update apparently is meant to support

They couldnt even be bothered to patch what modders patched years ago, thus perpetuating the reliance on modding for base functioning. Major issues like shadow culling/rendering is still completely broken, so I'm wondering if its even hitting a stable 60 on consoles without looking like its running on the lowest settings.

Next gen... sure. More false advertising to lure uninformed tourists into its MTX shop.

Next gen in the sense that they made improvements only for the consoles.

Weapon debris is actually working for some with RTX GPUs (me included) and the lighting has never caused crashes on RTX GPUs.

4090. This is the first time I've tried turning debris on with this GPU. It did crash with a 2070 and a 3080 in the past though as soon as a gun was fired by any character. I've played the game on GPUs from every RTX generation and have only had crashes from the weapon debris on older GPUs. No crashes at all with the 4090 and zero crashes on the 2070 and 3080 when debris was off, even with godrays on ultra

It's genuinely embarrassing that people still call 4 year old consoles "next gen" they have been current gen for a long time. so have RTX cards.

Is that why the game kept CTDing on me? Because I have a 2070 Super and had god rays and weapon debris on?

Yes, it's because the Nvidia flex library was outdated by the time RTX cards were released. Bethesda never bothered to update it to the latest version.
i have a 3060 rtx 12 gig and it crashes on me too!

I turned off god rays and weapon debris and thus far the game is stable now.

Suffice to say , I never had any of these issues playing with a 2080ti a year or two back , thanks to the work of the community modders , which has been utterly undone.

It's not that they never bothered to fix it, it's because the Flex SDK has been deprecated for years now and isn't actually supported by RTX GPUs (it does still sort of work in some instances though). They have it still available as an option for those that have older GPUs that support the SDK. They should have a warning that it needs to be disabled for newer GPUs though, or disable the option based on what GPU is autodetected.
