Fusion Cores - Recharge
I read contradictory and confusing information about recharging fusion cores. Some website claims it is not possible without mods, others claims a simple power armor station is enough to recharge fusion cores.

What about it exactly ?

As far as I am aware. You can't recharge fusion cores in vanilla in any way.

It is a consumable item. Automatically replaced by another when used on power armor and some heavy weapons.

the only thing I know that "recharges" power cores are the generators you're swiping them from, eventually the cell refreshes and they're magically replaced, and you can swipe em again, like the mystery guy who's running around replacing light bulbs and nuka-cola stock in all the machines these 210-ish years...

The machines you find fusion cores in are actually recharging units (like the basement of the museum you find Preston Garvey in), but you cannot use them in that capacity. They are functionally only a place to find a single charged fusion core, and once looted, they do not respawn fusion cores. When they run out of charge, they are automatically removed from your inventory. Thus, you can only buy more fusion cores, or find them as randomized loot (you can sometimes find as many as 4 cores in one loot container). However, once you get the multi-level perk that makes your cores last longer, you start gaining more than you use over time, even when running a lot.

Note: don't buy the last level of that perk. Accidentally ejecting a fusion core drops a mini-nuke at your feet. Not good for you, followers, or random civilians.

Note 2: If you constantly reload your weapons between firefights, be careful with the gatling laser. The GL only takes fully-charged cores for some dumb reason (unlike Power Armor, which you can plug used cores into).

the only "real" article i can find is from medium and is legit written like it was made with ChatGPT and are completely wrong.

the short answer is no, you cannot charge fusion cores without mods.

I would say the people who thought you could were getting fallout 76 core charging mixed up with fallout 4

If they started with F76 and went back to F4, I could understand that. They should expect issues going backwards, though.

You can sell nearly-depleted cores for the same price as a full one. I don't know what the best price for a core is with maxed out Charisma, but selling a depleted core and buying a new full one is kind of like recharging - for a price.

It's not worth it. You can make more caps looting raiders than pre-ejecting cores.

All the time I've put into FO4 and I never knew you could recharge cores with their generators. Thanks for that info. There's prolly a bunch of other sh*t I've never known.

There is a mod that makes fusion cores last 10x more. With that and the perks you can get ingame. You would only need to run in Power armor for 60+ real life hours for 1 core to run out. Makes things very immersive.

Re-read the entire first sentence of my post. You can't do that in vanilla F4

Yeah, I got it. Misread Death Approaches' comment before yours.
