Wait if i sell my gun to a weapon dealer by mistake, its gone forever?!

This is stupid as hell i just spent an hour exploring the Atom, im finally going into the command center and all the bots are hostile even tho i gave the icon to the confessor dude, well anyway i notived my sniper rifle is missing, i has it in the quick select but now its gone!

I checked the weapon dealer and he doesnt have it in stock, what the hell? it couldnt be anywhere else! i checked the armor bench and chemicals table but its not there, what the hell my latest save with the rifle still on my person is just outside the Atom, an hour ago!

now ill have to run around the atom for another hour to collect all the ammo and stuff i found the first time and talking to fanatics to get the quesats active in my pipboy again, this is infuriating! They should allow you to lock items so they stay in invewntory for gods sake!

1. Mark your favourite weapons as favorites. Then if you accidentally try to sell them, you'll get a pop up saying something along the lines of "are you sure?"
2. Quick-save before trading.
3. If you accidentally sell something you didn't intend to sell, you can buy it back under the "buy back" tab of the trader. Not sure how long they'll stay there, though.

Try buying the Overseer's Guardian from Alexis Combes in Vault 81 and/or Spray n' Pray from Cricket (both relatively early game Legendary available weapons) and see what you think.

I tend to rename modifiable items to begin with '*' so they are easier to spot reducing the chance of accidental sale. ' * Hunting Rifle '

If they're at or near the Nucleus anyway, the Kiloton radium rifle would be the ideal one to get.

It has the Explosive effect just like Spray n' Pray, but on a radium rifle, and can be bought from Brother Kane, the weapons vendor.

Once it gets in the dealer's hands, that's it. made that mistake a couple of my times too. It would be nice if we could say, "Wait- I've changed my mind, I don't want to sell it!"

Well to be honest that's your mistake. If you in reality went and sold something to a pawn shop, left for ages, came back and he'd sold it someone else, what would you do? Get mad at the pawn store owner?

You made a mistake and never corrected it for ages. take the hit. Be more careful next time.

p.s. If it makes you feel better, we've all made that mistake at one time or another.

Update on topic: unique legendary weapons (not commonly dropped) are apparently are safe to sell even by mistake, you can eventually buy back from the vendor (remains persistent for resale even over large extended periods time).

If your in the Nucleus just buy the explosive radium rifle from one of the vendors, I think its the guy upstairs from the lady vendor. Problem solved.

Oh. That's good to know. Too bad ordinary stuff doesn't have that feature.

Months ago I'd apparently sold a combat sniper rifle which i'd modified to do the maximum damage it could do, and most of the ammo for it, to some merchant at one point and didn't discover it for hours of playing time irl. I eventually had to bite the bullet, one that was not sold I suppose, and I went back to a previous save from a time before I'd noticed that I didn't have the weapon anymore. I decided that it was better to give up all of the XP, loot and progress in Vault 88 that I'd gotten in those hours rather than give up that weapon and almost all of my .308 ammo. It hadn't been unique or legendary, it was just the best long gun that I had at the time.

Unfortunately, I still forget to save often enough .

Put a * in front of everthing you want to keep, renaming them.

Eg...
*308.Sniper. Gausse Rifle
*Fight. RL Armour
*Glasses. Spectacles
*Building. Builders Hat

All the * Asterix stuff, will be at the top. You may have to shorten the names, if you haven't modded your game with a mod.

You are just going to have to load an earlier save and continue from that time moment and not sell your own shtuff,
