Why I chose General Ward within the Enclave (SPOILERS)
I gotta say America Rising 2 on Survival mode was a blast, lots of rage moments for sure (especially after crashes) but almost 45 levels in I have to say it was 100% worth it. Ultimately I understand that the creator of America Rising, Thomas Mitchell intended for the Enclave to be the most evil faction in the game. However, I don't see them as such and I wanted to talk about why I chose General Ward over Colonel Whitehill.

First and foremost the whole goal of the Enclave at first may ultimately seem barbaric, and in hindsight, it actually is! But, their approach makes a lot of sense, wipe out all life except for those unaffected by radiation. Although I'm not speaking to from a moral high-ground, morally, I agree with this.

Anyone could see the Wasteland is a complete and utter disaster, from mutated creatures to super mutants and ghouls, it has become so bad that every creature in it has evolved to kill us as a species. And to top it off, Raiders/Gunners have controlled most of the land, and both are not serving a greater good. It's inhospitable, and asking people to live amongst deathclaws, radscorpions, and legendary bloodbugs is more inhumane in my opinion, than wiping the slate clean.

The acts of cruelty committed to perfecting the FEV virus was in my opinion quite similar to how we actually handle such matters in the real world. We use lab rats sure, but eventually someone has to get the jab to test the inoculation, preferably someone with the right conditions will eventually have to undergo a trial.

When you look at medical science, we pretty much crafted everything we know on doing things like cutting dead people open to examine their insides.

Now I personally, for the record, have many issues with modern medical science. There's a lot of things I hate about it, and a lot of which is affecting the population. I personally hated the whole COVID 19 fiasco and if I could I would opt to not having taken the vaccine. But, that is something else for another time.

Anyway, the latter I previously explained is why I would have chosen the Enclave to be the dominant faction in the game. Yes, I understand there's good people in the Commonwealth, as the lone survivor (Nate), we get to experience what happens firsthand in the commonwealth. But all of the default factions are just wrong in some form. The railroad valuing the lives of synths over humans. The Brotherhood just recklessly preserving what remains. The Minutemen living in a complete Dump. And The Institute using synths to replace humans.

Now comes for that hard decision in the Enclave that you must carry out in order to complete the final mission. The choice of killing General Ward and Senator Matthews, and killing Colonel Whitehill.

Initially, looking at Colonel Whitehill one can appreciate her sympathetic nature towards the lone survivor. If anyone grew up with parents and a good household, one could see that she is a better person at heart towards the lone-wanderer. She also makes a more valid point that if the Enclave tries to repeat the same atrocity that happened in Fallout 2, the Enclave will ultimately be pursued and destroyed again. And this is a morally higher standing viewpoint.

However, upon looking at the world in its current state, female leaders have utterly destroyed society. A lot of gubernatorial candidates have effectively as political leaders destroyed freedoms and exacerbated hypocrisy; from Oakland in California, to Chicago in Illionois, time and time again female leaders in society have brought it to its knees.

On top of that, even if Whitehill was in the Oil Rig and the last high ranking remnant of the Enclave in the commonwealth's district, she still did not have the power to bring back the Enclave. Instead that right belongs to both General Ward and Senator Matthews. Without the mind for logistics that both of these men had, there would be no Enclave. Senator Matthews alone was the one who even assembled the army of soldiers to even make the Enclave what it is!

So, if we were to put Colonel Whitehill in the seat of power as general, when ♥♥♥♥ really hits the fan for the Enclave, I don't think she's going to have it in her to effectively have the logistic attitude necessary for the survival of the enclave. While I can support her reluctance to use the FEV to kill ALL radiated specimens and just use them for specific targets, I wouldn't let the Enclave be led by a female leader let alone one that could not do what Matthews and Ward did to remove the enemy.

Overall, I thought America Rising 2 was absolutely amazing especially on survival mode, I highly recommend people try it out and give it a shot. I thought the drama with the Brotherhood of Steel was amazing (I never thought armored battalions of T-60 Brotherhoods could actually be hard to kill but in waves it's like trying to punch walls with bare skinned knuckles). I also really liked how most of the quests were handled. I ultimately feel like anyone who hasn't played with the mod in survival mode is not actually playing the game correctly at this point. Bravo to Thomas who developed the mod to begin with!

The mod and everyone who worked on it are amazing. me personally, i didn't like it. it felt more like wishful thinking. The enclave is supposed to be in a grim situation and needs to avoid any conflict if possible. I still endorse the mod to anyone who wants to try it. Just don't expect a immersive story that fits the past and present story line.

All it takes is one radscorpion bro, you'd be on that FEV plan in a heartbeat to save the US.

Hell even a bloodbug is enough for me to say okay wipe out civilization.

Why would those freak out anyone? I mean Jeff the spider who pays rent for the spare bedroom here in Australia is fine apart from when he catches and brings a horse home for dinner

Jeff the spider isn't the size of mirelurk. A mirelurk is enough for me to say kill everything that breathes.

Who's Colonel Whitehill?
I played the first few quests of AR2. So I deliberately stopped reading your post partway through to avoid too many spoilers :D

But it was clear to me that unlike AR1 and Enclave Resurgent and Enclave New Story, we fallen back into the "Enclave most evil" trope.

Hierarchical organizations are as good or evil as their leadership.
After all the defeats death of lots of Leadership could it be that more normal people had now risen to leadership positions?

After all the Enclave is supposed to be the remnant of the US Gov't with a responsibility to all citizens and those guys are not all evil (def not all good either, but u get my meaning and with the current neo marxist infiltration who knows, maybe we will get a "all-evil" US Govt soon)

This aspect of AR2 really disappointed me.

On this note these other Enclave mods deserve everyone's strong consideration, which are much more nuanced::

that was my thought....not to mention the irony of forcing others to be test subjects and killing them....then complaining about own coerced medical treatment.

People who lose their sh*t when a teeny tiny spider runs across a way would lose their dang minds if they saw a bloodbug or bloatfly. Let alone a mirelurk or radscorpion.

I chose Whitehill as she seemed practical, "Use the FEV but lets not kill everyone".

I haven't finished the questline but only have a few to go.

Important to consider though, that while the FEV would eradicate mutated life it would not eradicate radiation. You may not have long-term radiation exposure now, but eventually you would have something akin to the Colonel's level. Do you just drop dead at that point? Additionally, if this should infect all plants and wildlife, what will you have to eat? Does it kill all trees, grasses, algae, and we all suffocate?

1 Timothy 2:11-15, brother. Saint Paul was serious, and the council of Rome said it was infallible and indefectible.

No, no they are not.

The Enclave was a treasonous 'shadow government' that used money, extortion, and outright lies to undermine the US Government, making the will of the people irrelevant. They are the Military-Industrial Complex that President Eisenhower warned the nation to not let take over.

They *say* they are the government. But they are lying, just like they were pre-war as well.

They have no respect for the Constitution, no respect for democratic institutions.

They are fascists wrapping themselves in a red white and blue flag, and people keep buying into their lie.
