How can I make a separate folder for modding games (re: Midnight Ride Mod Guide)
https://themidnightride.moddinglinked.com/setup.html

Could have sworn when I used this modding-guide about 2 years ago, there was a link for a tool/app that creates a new install folder so the whole Windows admin-rights thing doesn't obstruct the mods....

There is nothing in my storage/downloads settings I can use...wtf?!

Any helpful Wastelanders out there? :poeIIsincere:

The simplest method is to install Steam in it's own new folder on your main drive, typically C: drive .. Never install anything in the default windows locations of "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)".

Once you have the Steam Client root folder outside of those 2 default locations, you do not need to take extra steps with file permissions or file ownership.

I'd just bite the bullet and reinstall stuff. I keep all my games in "C:\Games" including Steam. Steam is installed at "C:\Games\Steam\." All the GOG games are right under "C:\Games." I use Bash, so I'll have "C:\Games\Fallout4 GOTY" and then Bash will make "C:\Games\Fallout4 Mods" where all the installers go.

It might be some work, but then you'll be all set. Prepared for the future!

OK, so basically: make my own folder on the C-drive; un- and re-install Steam into that new folder; ready to roll!

Modding, modding never changes...until Bethesda release a surprise-update-patch or something. :dos2skull:

Thanks guys/gals! :lovegrenade:

P.S.: Speaking of mods, anything you'd recommend to go with my planned SIMS Settlements + Fens Sheriff package? Something a modding-n00b on a brand new Win11 can work with sans the hassle and 90's-movie-cyber-net-hacker skills required... Quality over quantity if you will.

I can't help you there, my Fallout 4 is very minimally modded. Only 8 mods, and they're all QOL except "Male Takeover." That mod stops un-named NPC females from spawning as combatants, so I don't have to slaughter so many women. I hate having to kill women.

The one I couldn't play without is Simple Ballistic Weave Expansion:

You need the GOTY or else all the official DLC, and also the Unofficial Patch installed first.

No problemo, that SBWE mod looks nice and promising.

I still wouldn't mind seeing your mod-list though. Especially since the sheer amount of mods is overwhelming, and at some point one would like to just play the freegin' game, ya know? So knowing of a combo that works is kind of a no-brainer. :oink:

Oh and, of course:

How dare you use a mod called Male Takeover you paytreeorchole paytreeorc!!111!!!1!!!1!!!:steammocking:
