If you have downloaded the bethesda-provided "High Resolution Texture Pack" REMOVE IT. it's not worth having and has bloated your game files to an improbable size, and is only good for people with truly - actually truly - monster machines.
Check your game's settings, re-run your settings by starting the game using Steam's launcher. If you're running a modded game this might briefly interrupt your ini / prefs but it might be worth doing anyway.
Also may be worth validating the game's files.
If your computer is slow, or has very low vram available, it's likely having trouble just loading all the textures at all. Those low-rez textures are there for your long distance viewing only, saving on rendering them until you're up close.
If it’s a VRAM/RAM issue, you’re gonna need to lower your graphical settings, and if you’re using mods that add in a bunch of high resolution textures (whether it’s the official High Res pack or ones acquired elsewhere) you’re gonna have to either downgrade them to a lower resolution or remove them.
Personally, I don’t go above 2k for environmental textures (flora, buildings, etc) and creatures/non-human enemies, and use 4k for weapons and armor/clothing. Also keep in mind that you really don’t need high resolution textures for small objects, it’s just a waste of VRAM/RAM because you’re not really gonna notice a huge difference between 4k, 2k, 1k, or 512MB unless you’re holding the object in front of your character’s face.
If you’re using a mod that makes load times faster - get rid of it. If you’re experiencing this issue there’s a very good chance that by removing/disabling it, this issue will not occur anymore.
Loading screens exist for a reason, as annoying as they can be.
This is the game properly loading up all the textures, models, etc in the area before allowing you to resume play.
Mods that make loading times faster usually accomplish this by forcing the engine to take shortcuts in this process or attempt to force the engine to use more VRAM/RAM to try and make this process faster.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work as intended, and if you’re already taxing your hardware with high resolution graphical mods, it can lead to you loading into an area before the engine actually manages to properly load everything - resulting in lower resolution/fuzzy versions of your textures.
I use a series of 2k and 4k textures, an ENB, and many of other mods. My system specs would’ve been considered “high” in 2017, and I have the game loaded onto an SSD. When using a mod that made load times faster - I experienced the same thing you have. Usually after about 30 mins of play, and the only way to resolve it was to exit the game and load it back up again.
After removing the faster load times mod, the issue disappeared. It hasn’t occurred since then, and interestingly enough - my load times have not gotten longer…almost as if the only thing the mod did was mess up my game.
Immediately after removing it, the issue stopped entirely.
I don’t know what it is about LLTF but it can create this issue, others have reported experiencing it too.
However, if the OP is using it or a similar mod and is experiencing this issue, they may find that removing said mod will fix it - much like it did with me.
And that’s with a GTX1080, an i5 CPU, and 32GB RAM running at 4k screen resolution, ultra quality game settings, 700+ mods, Visceral ENB, Ultra Exterior and Interior Lighting, and full 2k environmental and 4k weapon/armor/clothing texture coverage - installed on an SSD - and getting 30 - 60 FPS for exteriors and 60+ FPS for most interiors.
If it's only after the update, then you need to make sure that your game is actually running on the video card properly, and that the card's drivers are the correct ones.
Your vram probably is too low or the drivers simply aren't working with the updated game. Nothing you describe happens in a normal version of the game, so you might also consider verifying your game files and make sure that the game isn't simply not downloaded correctly.
Plus if this "happens after 30 minutes of game play" are you on a laptop? If it's overheating, there's your issue.
I can do that too, my assumption is your mods are broken because they did not update when the references for textures were moved around in the Next Gen update.
