Missing NPC speech - Automatron

Please note I'm running the game with Patch 1.34 from 2019, not the Next Gen Update.

There I was blithly telling everyone that there's no problems with downgrading your game and running the old version from the Script Extender, and that was precisely the case for me until I rescued Ada and tried to talk to her.

Ada's dialogue lacks all audio, as does the player character. The holotape pertaining to Automatron has no audio either. I'm going to have to assume the entire DLC is 'silent.'

I have tried the following fixes:

- Restarting the mission - fail

- Restartarting the game - fail

- Moving Ada to a different cell - fail

-Removing all mods, and restarting the game in a 'vanilla state' without mods, using only Script Extender, and beginning from an earlier save in a different cell. - fail

- Uninstalling Automatron, launching the game without it, then re-installing Automatron - Unfortunately doing this kickstarted my game into updating itself with the Next Gen patch, so that was no good.

- Total 'scorched earth' uninstall, including deleting all files and folders pertaining to Fallout 4, re-installing the game plus 'downgrade' files from the Steam Depot and running it without mods using just script extender. - fail

So the problem possibly lies with the depot Automatron files?

Sure I could just upgrade the game to the new patch, but I don't want to do that as I have hundreds of hours put into this run, along with some very elaborate settlement builds that I do not wish to lose, plus I'm using a lot of older mods that don't play nice with the NG patch.

I'll bump this just once in desperate hope of getting a reply, but if it sinks again so be it. I'll just have to play with with subtitles and forget about the audio.

If you don't want to have the next gen yeah, that's your option. If it's JUST the verbal component of the dialog, and you CAN see the options with subtitles, that's... pretty much your solution, unfortunately. Once they patched the game, verification of files is out the window, so ... we take what we can get when running the older version of the game.
