Yeah that doesn't work..
What are your system specs? Are you running the game higher than 60 fps?
But you will want to be very careful about what you do: if you are in survival mode, you're boned, sorry.
Have this page open so you can refer to it and potentially click on links.

If you can use the console to type dev commands, you need to load a save from DIRECTLY BEFORE this happens.
Make a manual save of that. Don't rely on quick or autosaves in this case.
Open your console with whatever key your specific keyboard needs to do that. (`/~ key on a regular qwerty).
Type in
SQT
That is Show Quest Targets. You'll get a list of all your open quests. There may be quite a few if you're at the end game.
If you were going to 'talk to Father', I'm assuming you were on the Institute side? MAKE SURE of which faction you're doing the end for. If the mission is Airship Down, you should be looking for inst307 in your list of quest targets.
Nuclear Family follows it, that's Inst308 - so one or the other of those should be in your open quest list.
Figure out which it is from the website linked. The pages those link to have very specific quest stages shown so you can then compare those to another command in the console:
getstage [either inst307 or inst308, whichever one you're unable to finish]
For Airship Down It should show you a number probably between 70 and 200. If you've evacuated the airport and then get the crash you can push the stage to 200 by typing
setstage inst307 200
Don't do this lightly: messing with completing any quest in the console can result in issues later if you're not careful. Always manually save first.
Again be SURE of the mission you are on, and at what exact point the mission is crashing before typing your stage number.
***
If the mission failing is Nuclear Family, the setstage is still 200, but the quest id is inst308.
