Same with Nuka Colas, especially Quantums. They give a good quick advantage and the caffeinated helps greatly when you got a long fight coming and want the AP regen buff.
Unfortunately, Jezabel has no real use after the quest. SS2 can somewhat use her for the robot SPECIAL stats.
I deal with enemies in many other quite satisfying ways.
But i surely underestimate many heavy weapon. Normally never use those. Freezing harpoon surprisingly really fun to use. I managed to get a kneecapper flamer as well. It is really fun to use even if it dealing almost no damage on some enemies.

Also, if you put a cryojet on one of Ada's arms and a flamer on the other, she is death incarnate for most enemies.
Regardless I find it better to permanently adjust to having the lower levels of attack/defence/carry rather than having to flex my approach and expectations every time I gain or dismiss a companion.
It's such an odd perk because it's really the only one that is like a Trait in other games, something that comes with offsetting buffs and debuffs. It is a curious design decision that I find bizarre, because it incentives you for ignoring a good chunk of the story (companion interactions).
Imagine if there was a perk that said "gain +25% attack defence and carry but you can't do the main quest". Would players take it? Absolutely. But from a game designer point of view do you really want to steer your players away from your content?
(Actually my suggestion/example is better than Lone Wanderer. I would say more repeat players skip the main quest, than skip companions entirely).
Do you guys not find it makes the game stupidly easy to have that much firepower and that much backup??
As a builder I am like a moving black hole sucking up all lose objects to scrap and build. so that carry weight makes a HUGE difference.
There is companions out there that allow the perk to remain in effect, Dogmeat (duh), Heather Casdin, and the Creation Club Sentinnel Armor.
I never get tired of watching murder bot do execution finishers

Nuka Cola Quantums make an excellent emergency stim pack if you haven't takenany ranks of the medic perk.
as for Ada give her the sentry torso so you can mount mini-nuke and nuka launchers then give her the head mod that can decapitate enemies randomly on any hit. make sure to get rank 1 of the inspirational perk so if she fires nukes indoors you don't die.
not only will her launchers kill weaker enemies sometimes the decapitation effect will trigger when nuking hardened targets killing them instantly.
And there is a perk ( Strong Back ) which can increase the amount of weight you can carry. Also, the CC backpacks, add extra carry weight. Even in Survival.
