Games are designed to pass time, many people enjoy scrapping the whole settlement slowly, and building things -again slowly- one by one, according to their tastes. which actually serves the purpose of a game.
blueprint systems are used on redundant actions on mass production games, like factorio.
I see, is there a mod that allows you to dismantle weapons/armour and make a new weapon out of it? I feel like that was a missed opportunity - Also there should have been legendary weapon and armour mods in the game - I know you can find weapon mods in the game - however from what I've seen there just based upon preset factors in the weapon crafting system.
I'd like to make some crazy contraptions of weapons/armour - that would be awesome.
The vanilla building system is, in my opinion, lousy and far too restrictive. I know some people have made a career out of using all kinds of elaborate exploits to make it do things it's not meant to do and manage without mods - but why bother when mods make the process flawless?
With the freedom and flexibility offered by Place Anywhere and my toolkit of 120+ building, landscaping and decorating mods I can build pretty much whatever I can envision within my mind and I'll happily spend weeks, even months of my life on big construction projects.
The point of it all is that I don't enjoy the system at all - I like everything else. Why would I buy another game for a system I don't enjoy? I just say that having a blueprint system would be better than the system that's already implemented.
Like I said I was just looking to see if you guys actually enjoyed it? I would rather use that time to mod the game than to sit through that. If you guys enjoy it - no harm in that.
This is what I was trying to find out, if you guys actually enjoyed the vanilla version of the system.
I think they could have used more prefabricated buildings, and possibly even some way to save the current multi-selection for repeatable use.

You asked for opinions and that is my opinion, no harm done or anything. just talking.
Contraptions workshop DLC allows you to build weapons and armors, like a factory. You build conveyor belts and stuff, machines receive raw materials and build weapons/armors/ammunitions etc.

That's why I wanted the blueprint system - you can save your blueprints after making them and alter them or what not - and just place them where you them.
I just checked I have that DLC I'll check that out - thank you.
Oh so it's a Mod, not a game - I got confused because I seen the 2 at the end of it. I haven't even touched mods in this game - just got it recently.

Nah, if I only had the vanilla option I'd not bother doing much at all, just put a couple of rusty shacks down with Mama Murphy and a dead molerat and call it good. Fortunately I don't have that issue thanks to mods.
If settlement building isn't your thing you could try Sim Settlements instead, which effectively does it all for you, or Sim Settlements 2 which does it all for you and also adds a load of new story content. It's not for me as I like to do it all myself, but others like it, judging by the number of people on this thread advising you to install them.
Eight solid hours on Monday (off work fortunately) and a further four hours on Tuesday morning, and three hours this morning constructing a single building in Sanctuary Hills - a kind of central hub and accomodation area. I really, really went to town laying down marble floors, carpets, glazing the windows, putting up interior walls with wood panelling , lighting it up, decoratinig and furnishing the place...... keeps me happy.
