Fallout 4 power armor can't decide which to chose
So I have a X-02 power armor I haven't upgraded it yet it's as you find it in-game (mk. IV level stats)

But I also have a mk. VI hellfire armor and I was wondering which should I use should I invest in fully upgrading the x-02 or should I stick to the hell fire armor

Also if I should go for th x 02 what upgraded should I have on it

Thx 🙏

I'm running the "Black Devil" X-02 armor you get from the quest "Speak of the Devil"

Fully upgraded with Explosive resist paint.

If I dont use that, I use the Quantum Armor from Nuka World for its insane AP regen

Max them all out, place them at different locations and use them for different purposes. I use my upgraded T-45b armor for minuteman missions with Preston Garvey freeing settlements, the X-02 for personal scavenge and revenge missions. I only have those 2, and a spare T-45 with no armor left. I only changed the paint job on the X-02 to "swamp-camo" aka-woodland camo IRL. I also have the winterized coating for the T-45b if I need it.
My plan is to gather them all, upgrade and modify them all, store them and use them each for different types of missions and playstyles.
I'm very new to fallout. I'm having a blast though. I bought this game in 2019 and then refunded because I had a brand new PC and wanted games that looked like a brand new PC like RE2R and this game wasn't photorealistic like that. I regret that because I've come to love open world games like this and value the glitzy graphics less because it usually means less content and gameplay.

I like the hellfire armor slightly more personally. I got a MK VI hellfire suit and MK III X-02. I like the aesthetics of the hellfire slightly more, and for now because of the difference in upgrades the hellfire is better stat wise. I'll probably just use both and put different Mods in each for different encounter types once they are both MK VI because they both look cool as hell.

It really doesn't matter. Just choose whichever one you think looks the coolest. By mid to late game you'll have so much junk for repairs and caps to buy junk/shipments for repairs. You'll also be so strong that you'll likely never die unless on survival mode, so the armor values don't really have any benefit either.

I have to say that I'm in the mid to late in the game situation and I get killed now and again. I'm not playing survival. Or maybe we have different definitions of "mid to late" in the game.

X-02 is better for your player character. You have more paint options, and (my preference) will allow you +4 INT for really fast leveling (+2 Database and +2 White Paint). It is the only Power Armor that has these extra paint options standard (without mods). You can, alternatively, get +2 on any stat from different colors of paint, plus a few other non-stat options only available on the X-02.

It is true the armor values are not that different or important when you are perked out in your abilities, but that extra +4 INT is helpful at any level. If you put the I'M SPECIAL book on INT as well, then that gives you a top off of 15 INT, i.e. +45% experience base without other bonuses like Lover's Comfort. It also vastly reduces the number of passwords to sort through in Hacking, so that's much faster when needed.
