mod issues
this is literally a last resort place to ask because every other platform i've asked on just straight up ignores the help post, my issue is with texture packs(vivid all in one) and the extended dialogue interface saying "XDI Status: fail XDI is not running make sure that XDI.dll is in your data/f4se/plugins directory." im relatively new to modding the game so i have no clue what this means any and all help is greatly appreciated

Look man, you need to be a bit smarter here. XDI DOES NOT WORK with anything but 1.10.163 right now, 1.10.980, the so-named "Next Gen" update, and it's patch, 1.10.984 can not run this. Neanka made a sticky in the post section two weeks ago if you'd have just read it.

But for future troubleshooting, please look at your F4SE logs, under Documents\My Games\Fallout 4\F4SE\ look at the main one, F4SE.log... each .dll mod should have a line, it'll say "loaded correctly", or something else... and that something else will be the key. In this case I'm guessing it's going to say incompatible version.

There's no update info on XDI yet - they said "soon" which means, stop asking, you'll get it when you get it. :-)

yeah it's fairly simple for my peanut sized brain, i have dabbled a bit into manual installations too since some mods require it

also i should point out there is no plugins folder for my fallout4 or data folder unless it's referring to a plugin section on a mod manager

I don’t have a that but go back to the web page and follow the instructions again. Vivid fallout is fairly simple. Also hit deploy on the mods after you’re done installing

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

most likely, the issue with that is with Extended Dialogue, if you are using a newer version of fallout 4, so next-gen update, then you will just have to disable extended dialogue

Some mods are updated, some are going to be, and some won't be soon or possibly never. Fallout 4 has been out for a very long time now and in many cases the original mod authors have moved on to other things. You'll have to check on Nexus frequently, in the posts for each of your un-updated mods to see if the mod author is working on them. If you're using a mod manager like Vortex, you can use it to check for updates every day, and also use it to go to the Nexus page for each of your installed mods that aren't yet updated.

that's awesome, im still struggling with vivid all in one, i've ticked it in game and i've already copied the archive thing it said to do and made sure to put it into my data folder as well so either this mod makes very small graphical changes or i just suck at installing texture packs lmao

lots of people are returning to the modding scene, just to update their stuff, but some are now re-motivated to make new stuff, too! So while it's an inconvenience right now, it could turn out to be a modding rebirth for FO4!

Ya know, you can always downgrade too, it's not an either/or thing... and run two (or more) copies of Fallout 4... leave a .163 with all your old mods happy and chugging along, and an updated one, waiting for mods to be fixed, that you tinker around with til the things you want are supported again...

if you're up for it, there's instructions all over the place in here, since what happened back on 04/25...
