Depends on what you value. In terms of pure extra gameplay hours of exploration, Nuka-World provided far more than I expected.

I actually like Nuka World more than I do Far Harbor. Esp the how the terrain is. But Far Harbor has the better quests I think. But the terrain is horrible for navigation.
Personally, I agree (gave up The Long Dark sandbox before it got separated out because it always devolved into repetitive tactics to survive the increasing over time relentless blinding blizzards). But IMHO, Far Harbor's rewards like Acadia's Shield are worth the trip (not to mention the fun of the exploration/quests). :)

I'm with those that say all of them except the high res texture pack. Way too much resource requirement for way too little gain. I'm talking triple your game's storage drive footprint for some extra detail on some environmental surfaces that you probably won't even notice if you're not looking for it.

wait on a deal, most of the DLC is workshop trash and very few story based DLC

I use all the DLCs (not the update or CC), but personally like the Raider one and Far Harbor best. the others are meh and bugged out so I've never been able to fully complete them and this was way before their update.

other than that, all the DLCs are worth having, especially Nuka World and Far Harbor.
are there not mods for higher res textures?

If you're gonna get one, might as well get them all (I paid $9.99 for everything back in 2021). Even if you started with the base game on Steam originally, normally you get the equivalate selecting the GOTY option with a preowned content discount (might not the best time right now, perhaps wait for next sale).

In any case, I see OP did acquire GOTY.

Far Harbor. If there is one DLC you want to get, get that one.

I also forgot to mention nuca world and far harbor each add additional ranks to 1 perk in each special branch as well.

For strength
Nuca world adds a third rank to steady aim which increases accuracy further.

Far harbor add a 5th rank to strong back which reduces action point drain from sprinting by 50% while over encumbered.

For perception.
Nuca world Awareness gets a second rank giving 5% accuracy and damage

Far harbor gives night person a third rank where you get 30 extra health at night. (Yeah these aren’t great)

For endurance
Nuca world gives ghoulish a 4th rank where you can heal yourself with radiation damage.

Far harbor gives rad resistant a 4th rank for more rad resistance.

Charisma
Nice world gives attack dog another rank you take 10% less damage traveling with dog meat.

Far harbor gives lone wanderer another rank you get more action points when you don’t have a companion. (These perks are amazing together)

Intelligence
Nuca world one more rank to vans gives you two more perception.

Far harbor gives a third rank to scrapper which increases your yields from scrapping though it’s confirmed it doesn’t apply to rare components only common and uncommon. (This is actually kind of op when you use it to scrap institute pistols for plastic and craft them into jet)

Agility
Nuca world quick hands gets a third rank you get more action points

Far harbor action boy/girl gets a third rank ap regenerates at 75% (yeah this is totally busted)

Luck
Nuca world mysterious stranger gets a 4th rank increasing his appearance chance further and raising the chance of filling your crit meter.

Far harbor critical banker gets a 4th rank lets you store 4 crits.

There are mods that do High res cleaner with less weight added to processing.

Farharbor is overall the real only competent DLC with decent of exploration and quest-decisions etc.
Nukaworld, kind of fun but also storywise breaks the game, very linear quest with frustrating collection quests, fun theme.
Automaton small questline with the ability to build your own robot companion, fun early but I find you'll often stick with other companions after the shine wears off.

The other DLC's add small stuff that honestly should be included in the base game.

Enjoy the wastes wanderer. :praisesun:

Agreed. Far Harbor is the best by far for story.

Nuka World and Automatron stories are silly. In general the DLCs add unbalanced gimmicks. There was nobody looking at balance for the DLC or CC and that continues to this day with the Next Gen content. Every release has further undermined game balance integrity which was "not bad" at launch.

But I guess most people would rather have OP toys and cheats rather than caring about balance.

Far Harbor is the best

I would give you a jester award for this, but I just do not like throwing Steam points at clowns. Sorry.

Automatron;

Hey guys, remember that wacky, zany guy from Fallout 3, The Mechanist? Remember him? Do you remember? Do you? Remember him? Do you remember?

Frankly, the only reason to even use this is so you can build robots to do supply lines between settlements, if you care about that sort of thing.

Nuka-World;

You can be le edgy raider man, leader of a bunch of idiots that are le edgy. There's nothing compelling about any of the raiders, and Nuka-World itself is just zany, wacky nonsense that is further pushing Nuka Cola as something that was important in the old world, when it really wasn't.

Of course, being Bethesda, they don't want to force you to do anything, so you can just kill the raiders. Because why do anything interesting with people who you can just kill?

Far Harbor;

>Insert jokes about it being Point Lookout 2 here.<

All the other crap;

Stuff that should have been in the base game, but wasn't, because Todd Howard is looking to join the Ferengi Commerce Authority in a bid to become the next Grand Nagus.

I never heard of the Ferengi Commerce Authority, but my uncle was a Grand Nagus down in the projects.
