I've figured out the secret of the teddy bears.
Despite what the current theory is (Child corpses), I'm afraid that's quite impossible. My only argument being that at the graveyard with the Total Hack magazine for turrets, there's a womans skeleton with a baby carriage -- BUT THE CARRIAGE HAS NO BEAR IN IT. DIAGNOSIS COMPLETE.

However, this opens the discussion back up to "Just how did the bear get there?" when finding the teddy bears of the wasteland in all of the compromising positions that they're in. Turns out the answer was right at the beginning of the game the whole time.

There's a teddy bear on the floor of Shaun's room placed dead-center in the middle of a circular carpet. Activating it prompts a "How'd you get there Mr. Bear?" voice-line... and opens up a whole world of paranormal problems....

*Zak Bagans impersonation*

... IT'S AT THAT POINT NATE/NORA HAD REALIZED. THAT BEAR WAS HAUNTED. A MALEVOLENT FORCE POSSESSED THE BEAR AND HAD PLACED IT IN THAT POSITION. IN ORDER TO DEBUNK THIS, WE PUT THE BEAR BACK ON THE CHAIR AND KNOCKED IT DOWN, SHOWING THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR IT TO LAND WHERE IT IS. [/baganization]

That's right. Ghosts did it. And when someone let the nukes fly, the bears knew all to well what they should do; Fan out and re-claim the territory that was once theirs, fueled by all of the new Souls of the departed that were set free by the massive explosion.

It wasn't easy adapting to having no bones. But many learned to use hotplates as ass-warmers, genius!!! Some even joined the ghost-bear military, donned army helmets and set out to try and save those who couldn't save themselves.

Some went on to build happy little bear communities. Some even fell in love and decided to settle down with other teddy bears.

But not all of these poor possessed toys were fortunate enough to find shelter or society, oh no. Some were doomed to scary fates only imagined by novelists of years passed... such as the poor bear who still struggles to this day to escape the murky waters of the mole rat den beneath the Red Rocket Truckstop.

tl;dr? The bears are possessed by ghosts. The end.

Meh, in keepin with the "amercianess" of Fallout the bears, are prob there as a reminder of ya 26th Pres, the fact they be doin dodgy things, is possibly a reflection on what "teddy" was up to with the maid at 5, behind the stables.

Given there are supernatural, alien, mutant, and mad science aspects to the entire Fallout universe since day one, it absolutely isn't beyond the bears to be some kind of unnatural thing.

Like, the mannequins.

They're hiding from the Drunken Gnomes, it's like those guys never got out of prison.

I always assumed the teddy bears were left by people of the commonwealth.

Like if you go into the empty schoobus above the schoolhouse in diamond city. If you go to the front near the driver seat there is a hit of jet there. I like to imagine one of the residents getting high and pretending they are driving a magic school bus haha.

The mannequins are interesting to me. Once I saw the theory that they were some sort of gen 0.5 synth or something, I started taking notice of where they were and their particular positioning.

I notice many of them are attracted to light or radiation. Like in the Concord museum where you meet Garvey, the first room with all of the mannequins, one of them is distracted by a light. I've seen this before.

At Starlight Drive-in, the big rad pool in the middle has a Mannequin moving towards the radiation buckets. I've seen this somewhere else to.

It's always interesting to how there's always a mannequin somewhere near a plot point. I have no insane theory about this though, these are just random mannequins facing random ways. @_@ It has to be.

I have, quite literally never, heard a theory about the teddy bears being child corpses, before this. : |

Seems pointless, Pretty sure I have seen Child Skelitons. I can't recall were at the moment but I know I have seen them.

Well, thanks to the Teddies, at least now that age old question about whether a bear does something something in the woods was answered. By the Teddy at Back Street Apparel. Turns out bears are quite similar to us humans in the "reading room".

It never ceases to amaze me that you humans expect us Zetans to look like "greys". But the greys are just our pets and footsoldiers. Our true Zetan form is so much more cuddly and diminutive.

You can't do that. Not even in vats. You have to be able to make a mod to do it. So it never happened. So there.
