Nick Valentine jumped in the Black Devil armor
I am thinking of turning off the broadcast (Speak of the Devil mission) to get the mod, but I was surprised he jumped in the suit when we were attacked by some Enclave NPCs. Will he stay in the suit?

That would be awesome because I figured two trips to get it myself because I was already in Power Armor. If he sticks with, it would be kind of awesome to have a power suit buddy.

Thanks! Can I put most of the companions in power armor? I have like six sets in this play-through, but this is the first time even in knew they might use it. I kind of want the Black Devil armor for me but like the idea of having them suit up when they join me.

Yes you can. Nick cant wear extra armor so having him wear power armor can make him tank a lot of hit. Dont use explosion unless you use those explosion protection upgrade. Explosive shotgun or other explosive weaponry can strip the whole power armor naked in 1-3 hits unless you take that charisma perks.

About the only way to give Nick extra armour apart from power armour is to put the Railroad's ballistic weave on the faded trenchcoat you get for completing the "Unlikely Valentine" quest to rescue him from Vault 114 in the first place.

The main thing to watch out for with companions is that they stay in the power armour, since (apart from Danse) they're not locked into it. I usually use a companion to help ferry extra frames I find home to my personal base. As a quirk of the game mechanics, a companion can even bring power armour frames into the VR worlds from the Creation Club if you've got that (the player can't do it since they need to leave their power armour to use the VR pod).

I don't like companions in power armor because the parts will break and the parts for the X-02, can be very expensive to repair, costing a lot of aluminum over time.

However, I love using the CC Sentinel PA companion. His armor pcs do not break and when equipped with a melee weapon, he kicks ass. He also will not count as companion which will cause you to lose the Lone Wanderer perk buffs.

Danse is the only vanilla companion with that same "unbreakable PA" perk as those Sentinel PA companions (unless you count mods)

Strictly speaking, it's a keyword (called "PowerArmorPreventArmorDamageKeyword") rather than a perk, and you can easily stick it on any companion you like with the AddKeyword console command. You can add it to the player just as easily.

I've used it once or twice for some of the more minor characters I've played.

I forgot it was a keyword, so I apologize.

Yeah, I have a mod to put it on all the vanilla companions
