Help with installing trap in the settlement
Hi, I want to place traps such as the tesla bow or the radiation emitter as a defense in the settlement. First of all, by placing the tesla arc connecting to the energy, it starts to work and gets damaged, forcing me to repair it. The second thing is to put a switch, but it will be turned off and if looters come someone will activate it, it is automatic, or it is not activated.
I don't know much about this and I haven't found any tutorials

You wire traps to triggering devices, not switches. They all need repair after use, except for a couple. That"s the price of using them. Floor spikes don't need a trigger or power, but damage is low. Check guides on the Fallout page, and search old forum threads.

Hello again, thanks for the help, I've already installed the tesla bow trap and flamethrower correctly, but when Carla the scavenges over the switch the traps are activated. How to avoid this?? I put a terminal connected to the contact platform that is on the ground but it only allows me to activate/deactivate.

Connect traps to laser tripwires and connect the trap to your power source.
Build a computer terminal (which can be anywhere on your power grid)

Use it then select the optical switches.
From there you can set them to trigger on anything or enemies only.
Choice being obvious but the default setting is anything that moves?

Been awhile so I'd have to think about it a bit,
been 4-5 years since messing with FO4 last, so right now ?????? no idea. lol
But you can make tripwires reset automatically.
It's fairly simple really, I just suffer from CRS sometimes. lol

The traps go off when anyone steps on the trigger. You can not avoid this (Well, the laser tripwire gives a way). You can limit them somewhat by building a siren. Run your electricity to the siren, then wire the siren to every trap. When an attack happens, someone will go and activate the siren which then activates the trap triggers. Your own people or allies would still set them off, however.

Really, traps aren't great. Some of them don't even work right. The trap door, for example, apparently lacks any nav mesh. That means NPCs don't see it as a valid surface to walk on, so they won't walk on it. Which kind of defeats the purpose.

You are better off just using turrets.
