purple trees - resolved!
I uninstalled a mod called Coniferous Revival and now I have purple pine trees everywhere. I have verified files and reinstalled the game, to no avail. Any advice?

No kidding, you removed a mod mid-game and the textures that the game relied upon for it, are now missing?

Really? This is a question?

Reinstall the mod, properly load it into your game load order, and this won't be a problem for your game...
The fact that the models are still present but their textures are missing (hence why they’re purple) suggests that you did not properly uninstall the mod.

Did you install it through a mod manager like MO2 or Vortex? Or did you manually install it?

Are you certain that you have uninstalled/removed/disabled all files associated with the mod? I see that you could potentially have at least 3 different files for it (the main, the LOD, and the “no weather” optional file) as well as third party patches/adjustments for FCR.

Make sure that you have removed/disabled ALL files related to FCR.
Which VERSION of the mod did you install?

The "trees only" file appears to be broken anyway, according to someone who posted last year - and this mod hasn't been updated since the first week of availability so I can't imagine they actulaly fixed the issue.

I guess I should clarify, Angry Steam User. I reinstalled the mod, installed different mods to see if they would fix the issue, started new playthroughs, started new playthroughs with different mods loaded, with the same mod loaded, reloaded old playthroughs, so on and so forth. I'm not a dumbass.

I uninstalled through vortex. I will try unpacking a freshly downloaded version of the mod to see what files it alters, and try to manually remove the changes. ty for the suggestion!

edit: it seems this is more complicated than I expected, as I rarely try and use mods manually. I did a search for the two BA2s and one ESP inside the zip and could not find them in my fallout folder, so I suppose vortex does something weird with the files that changes their names. I am a little stumped.

So the mod’s files are all packed into BA2s?

No loose files?

Thats very strange then that disabling/removing the mod didn’t take the .nifs (the models) out of the game. Such a thing can happen sometimes when mods use loose files - you uninstall it and - for whatever reason - some of its files get left behind.

But if everything is in BA2s and those are gone…the .nifs simply shouldn’t be there anymore.

The fact that the models are still there, despite you removing the main mod, really makes me think that you’ve got something else still installed/enabled related to FCR.

Search through your mod list in Vortex and make absolutely sure that any/all additional mods related to FCR are disabled/uninstalled - that includes any optional files from the mod’s page AND any third party mods or patches that relate to FCR.

I managed to fix the issue (:
And how did you? Might help someone in the future.

I had a secret tree mod secretly installed under a secret name that i didn't know about :0
It just occurred to me too that you could’ve gone into the game, opened the console, and then clicked on one of the trees. Assuming it could be targeted (some assets, especially landscape ones can’t be targeted for some reason), the console would’ve been able to tell you what file it was and where it was coming from.

If they were using the whatyamacallit console mod for the advanced console, then used the key to enable it to show the extra details. Definitely a great tool to suggest though.

For future reference, purple means missing textures.
All tree mods need to be read carefully and thoroughly vetted for buggy issues because there is lots of bad tree mods out there like this one.

When searching for tree mods, you are best off going to Nexus, searching for tree then choosing most endorsed sortation. That will greatly cut down running into these abandoned mods. Then make sure to glance through the forum posts and bugs section on the page.
