Only a few textures exist of the giant squid.
The Maypole only exists as concept art.
Someone did however make a mod of the undwater Vault 120, where the cut mission with the squid is set.
IIRC, the map layout exists somewhere in the game files. No idea how much the mod author had to create from scratch.
If there's in-game resources that didn't get used chances are high that someone found them and beat them into submission for a mod. But not a lot has been left in the game. A good amount of dialog is renovated with a couple mods, that I know. Settlers that endlessly repeat things is a bethesda whoops for whatever reason some dialog just never happens when you're wandering around.
I saw a video of the maypole and something that creepy would of made the glowing sea much scary.
All I found was a comment about there being a large ghoul enemy added by the mod Tina’s Cookiepocalypse, but it sounds like it’s no bigger than maybe a Behemoth.
I also came across a video made by the guy who created the May-pole. He discussed his inspiration for the design and attempts to get the green light to add it to the game, but discovered that the engine couldn’t actually handle a 500-foot enemy - it would cause the game to become incredibly unstable and then crash. He tried, but couldn’t get it to work.
That being said, there likely is not a mod out there that truly adds it in. Perhaps there’s one that adds in a scaled down version (like that Cookiepocalypse one), but not a true version.
Oh... Its way taller than a behemoth. The height was the same size as liberty prime when I watched a video. I don't think nobody has released it as a mod, probably because it was bethesda content and they could possibly add it in when they release the update but i highly doubt it knowing them.
And while I know I saw something with a traditional may pole (the kind with ribbons and dancing) I'm pretty sure it was part of a... um. more adult 'pole' mod :D
They cannot add it in at its true size.
The Maypole was supposed to be somewhere between 300 and 500 feet tall, would wander the Glowing Sea followed by hordes of feral ghouls, and could only be destroyed via a quest.
Jonah Lobe, the Maypole’s designer, has a Reddit AMA video out there talking about it and he goes into detail about it and why it wasn’t put into the game: the engine could not handle it, it broke the game.
To give you some reference, a Deathclaw is about 9 or 10 feet tall, a Behemoth is 10 - 13 feet tall, and Liberty Prime is about 40 feet tall.
This thing would’ve been almost ten times the size of Liberty Prime, and LP is only able to function in the engine because it follows pre-scripted paths and performs pre-scripted actions.
The Maypole will never be added by Bethesda or a modder in its true size because the engine cannot handle it. Your game would either immediately crash when it spawned in, or the frame rate would plummet so severely that you’d be watching “Fallout 4: PowerPoint Presentation Edition”.
But still they could of made it liberty prime size... Bethesda did not care much about the lore in fallout 4. I would rather have something like the maypole than some dungeon or save that 1 settler quest.
I mean, it's not like editing a movie where the primary filming was already done and they decided not to use it because of pacing, time constraints or the like.
AFAIK, there is nothing in the lore that mentions gigantic ghouls roaming the wasteland.
Lobe came up with the idea while working on FO4, and was inspired by Shadow of the Colossus and some old movie where a 500 foot man was created via radiation.
Even at LP size, a free roaming enemy like that wouldn’t be that good. Just look at neeher’s “gojira deathclaw” mod. It adds a deathclaw that’s about 70 feet tall and if you watch videos of it, it constantly gets stuck on static objects, clips through buildings, its navmesh has no idea what it’s doing, it levitates off the ground sometimes, and when it dies its corpse shoots up into the sky and disappears.
It’s a cool idea, sure, but the result is something which looks and behaves stupid.
They could make it different like maybe when taking a jet makes you get hallucinations seeing weird ♥♥♥♥ like a giant ass ghoul in the glowing sea. Bethesda would come up with ideas like this.
