How to Retrieve Savegame from Cloud
Hi,

I had the issue where the game was not saving in My Documents/Fallout4/Saves.

Rather, it was saving them in the cloud folder in Steam\userdata\63550606\377160.

However, when I went to go retrieve the saves to put them in My Documents folder, they aren't there. It's just a blank folder with a remotecache.VDF file.

I opened up the file and saw that it had listed all the saves that I am trying to retrieve, but I can't find them anywhere.
Steam Also says for Fallout 4 when I click properties something like, "You have used 940 MB and have 10 MB remaining for cloud storage."

So this must mean those files are saved somewhere. Can anyone help me please?

try opening the game, load the most recent save. then alt tab to steam and turn off cloud saving for fallout 4, then save the game and see if it appears in My Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves

steam cloud turned OFF then
click on steam help
steam support
my account
data related to account
scroll down to uploaded content section
then steam cloud
then fallout 4
click on the save file to download
a windows popup appears - I changed the download folder to
Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Saves
and changed the file name to testfeb02.sav
and the file appeared locally

search your hard drive for .sav files. windows one drive on? look in the one drive folders

Thank you guys for the replies. So apparently since I save so much like every few minutes the Steam only saved like the last 100 saves and it keeps overwriting them to make room, so I can't go back in time to my older saves, only my newest ones. I hate how they did this, I am going to have to turn steam cloud off

perhaps allowing every user unlimited saves might be a storage nightmare?

I took the 1tb drive out of my old machine and use that for saves/backups.
128gb usb drive cost $15US on amazon also holds a lot of saves.

Yeah I know. I'm just confused as to why steam started randomly storing all the saves in their own folder. When I was playing this a few years ago my saves were never deleted from the actual Documents/Fallout4/Saves folder and moved to the steam cloud part

I believe that save file issue started jan 11/12 after the steam client update for some users in several games. I submitted a ticket to steam but they did not believe me. I have steam cloud off and only one steam account and saves were not moved. users with the issue had steam cloud on/multiple steam accounts.

Yeah unfortunately I do have two steam accounts so maybe that caused the issue
