Can't progress after SHOW NO MERCY

I've read a few forums and this doesn't seem to be a rare problem. I finished SHOW NO MERCY and reported back to Maxson. He gave me the signal grenades but that's it. He told me to be his eyes and ears. Is there another mission I should finish first for another group like the Minutemen before I can progress to FROM WITHIN?
I've tried restarting SHOW NO MERCY but the result is always the same, so I don't think it's a corrupted save issue.
Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!!

Apparently The Brotherhood path halts until you've reached a certain point in the main quest. And i haven't discovered the institute yet, So i suppose i should go back and complete some more for the Minutemen..?

Yes, the faction questlines in Fallout 4 are tied into the main quest. Or they're one in the same, really. Once you've completed the main quest The Molecular Level, From Within should become available. Doing quests for the Minutemen won't help you.

To get the most "open" world status, and to keep every faction available, you have to at least discover the Institute. This isn't actually an uncommon question - some people actually ask why they can't join the Brotherhood yet, and the answer is usually because the BoS didn't even appear in Boston yet (you have to complete Reunions first and see the zeppelin when you come out of Fort Hagen).
For some reason, they've tied faction quests to the main quest, so you can't just progress the main quest by doing faction quests, like it was in New Vegas.

Seems like i don't have much choice at this point. The only quests available are a few settlement quests for the minutemen or finishing off Reunions by talking to Piper. Anyway, thanks for your help!!
