Beginning to regret joining the Institute... Might go back to the Brotherhood.
For this run thru I decided to join the Institute. I did do it once before, but years ago. It was kinda interesting finding out some secrets and seeing how the Synth shenanigins works, but after a little while I'm beginning to regret it. Why?

1. I ended up in a major situation against the Minutemen that could even cost me my Follower, Curie. Strangely I don't ever remember it happening before in my previous, previous run-thru in the Institute, but I guess I had no Follower then.

2. Rescuing captured Gen 1 or 2 synths is crappy. It's not like rescuing actual people. It was interesting to hear a gen 1 synth ask for help. Though how the heck did Raiders capture it and TIE it up? Did it surrender?

3. Taking part in jobs like visiting a synth-taken over farm (which slaughtered the previous owners) and pretending that's fine, bugs me.

4. ` Father` who is actually my son, and one reason why I stayed, bugs me. His reasons for everything bugs me, especially why he freed me, just to have me wandering around the Commonwealth on the mere CHANCE I won't be horribly murdered by something, and not helping me to survive in the slightest, hoping I'll just miraculously find him by myself when he could have easily helped me along the way. Teleporting supplies on the quiet, sending a Courser to help every now and then if he saw I was about to die, etc. But he does none of that, like he hoped I would be popped off, bugs me.

And it's not like he's the janitor, he ruddy LEADS an entire organisation and army! He's got cameras and spies almost everywhere.

5. can my Follower EVER come to the Institute with me or is she stuck forever just waiting in the barrens while I'm away? I don't normally ask, preferring to find out myself, but I might reload an earlier save and go back to the Brotherhood, where at least she can come too.

6. I miss my Verti-bird helicopter taxi. I even miss taking kids out on `work-experience'. I even miss the whole Brotherhood thing. It's just better and feels more like a `family`.

I might go back to the Brotherhood and just wipe out synth land.

The Institute is just an evil faction. The Nukaworld raiders at least I can understand is that just don’t want to be prey to other raiders so they become raiders which although ironic is reasonable for them if they come from settlements outside of diamond city.

The institute has no redeeming features because they never help the wastelands and will still continue to replace people with synths.

Yes, Bethesda could have given the Institute more depth, a better grand plan, something that would make you see them as the good guys. But nope, they're comically evil. "We want everyone in the surface dead because that is what evil scientists do. You have been a good while up there and have made friends, but side with us on this pls, your son is here and all! Well, your sons... it's complicated."

Well it looks like they already decided label the institute off as being destroyed post Fallout 4 like the enclave post fallout 3.

I’m assume they are doing that because the institute is just plain evil. Also 3 out of the 4 endings has the institute being blown up.

Then they haven't decided anything. Don't go selling it as such :/

re #3; You mean Rodger Warwick? The all would have died if not for synth Rodger. How is that evil to replace him and save his wife and two kids? Janie even remarks how good her father has become.

Well in the TV series the east coast BOS send an airship over to California, don’t think they will be doing that if the Prydwen is blown up at the end of Fallout 4.

re #4: yeah. Your own son doesn't help you. Neither will anyone else, until you can get into the institute and kill them all. That's what the BOS and RR want. NO ONE will help SS until his goal of getting into the institute alligns with their passion to kill everyone there. Even the MM can go in that direction.
Making a better world by killing just the right people!

All the factions are evil. The difference is, only the institute has a chance to survive.

As for those comments I leave you with this:

The Prydwen is likewise destroyed in 75% of endings (being optional with the Minutemen ending and the Brotherhood one).

Well the TV series does have another airship like the Prydwen on the west coast. Based on that it is highly unlikely they would want to send that airship out west if the Prydwen was destroyed in F4 because it would be used as a replacement to hunt down the foes who destroyed the Prydwen.

But since it’s out west it’s looking like the Prydwen survived Fallout 4 and since in the minuteman ending the minute man can still destroy the Prydwen it’s a BOS ending.

But the Prydwen can also be destroyed in Brotherhood ending; the Minutemen and Brotherhood are equal on that.

It's also worth remembering that whatever they choose as canon doesn't strictly have to match a specific game ending, or even necessarily be set after it. I've seen the teaser for the TV series, but don't recall whether they've said it's taking place after Fallout 4.
